New Orleans is so architecturally beloved because we are good about building at a human scale. Even our grandest buildings, like the cathedral, are relatively quaint. It’s the consistency with which the city is beautiful that makes her noteworthy.
Economics has always been considered a subset of ethics. The enlightenment & subsequent capital L liberalism(not to be conflated with progressivism) changed this. Now it’s considered a β€œscience”.

Housing tends to be smaller in the city compared to the suburban counterpart. In the city, especially New Orleans, life happens outside! The house is where you sleep, cook, do laundry etc.
Freedom can be both freedom from and freedom to.

New Orleans and Santa Fe have the greatest ratio of population to general aura/fame of any American cities.
There are cities in Southeast Asia with 5+ million people that the average American has never even heard of. But go anywhere, and everybody knows about little ole’ 350k population New Orleans.

New Orleans is like the Hotel California. You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave.

People leave, but they always find their way back. There is an almost spiritual force that sinks its claws into you.
