Großes Dankeschön & Respekt @FNFreiheit für die Verleihung des diesjährigen Freiheitspreises an das iranische Volk, in treuhänderische Hände von @PahlaviReza.
Eine sehr notwendige Geste der Solidarität und des Nicht-Vergessens des Muts der Iranerinnen und Iranern, die zu Anfang des Jahres ein Massaker nie gekannter Brutalität durch das Islamische Regime erleiden mussten. Jetzt, zu Ende des Jahres, sind die Hinrichtungen auf einem Höchststand, die Revolutionsgarden fester im Sattel, außerdem aggressiver denn je ggü. der Außenwelt.
Wir schulden es dem iranischen Volk seine Lage immer wieder zum Thema zu machen und das Regime niemals als normal zu betrachten. Maximaler Druck auf das Regime und maximale Unterstützung für die Zivilbevölkerung, wozu insbesondere "connection" = Internetfähigkeit gehört - dieser von @PahlaviReza vorgeschlagenen Vorgehensweise kann ich nur zustimmen.
Und würde in dieser Sache auch meiner eigenen Partei mehr Mut und meinem MdB Kollegen Reza Ashragi mehr Mitstreiter wünschen.
Ein besonderer Dank gilt meiner früheren FDP-Kollegin im Abgeordnetenhaus für Berlin @MarenJasper für die Einladung und meiner Tochter für ihre Begleitung. #womenpower

What happened in Frankfurt today is a masterclass in civil courage.
Despite the Islamic Republic threatening violence and attempting to exercise veto power over free assembly in Germany, thousands of Iranians turned out to celebrate freedom alongside @PahlaviReza.
This isn’t just an Iranian issue anymore. It is a direct warning to the West: either you stand firm against terrorism intimidation on your own soil, or you forfeit your democratic principles to terrorist regimes. European leaders must choose now!
