PSLV-C62’s third-stage failure may hit Hyderabad’s space startups hard.
Dhruva Space, TakeMe2Space, Eon Space Labs lost satellites and first-mover demos. Possible damage through lost launch windows, delayed validation, and shaken customer timelines.
ISRO setback: PSLV-C62 failed again at the third stage, leading to the loss of 16 satellites.
Crucially, this included EOS-01, a strategic Earth-observation satellite meant for military and security applications supporting surveillance, planning, and operational readiness.
This is the second consecutive PSLV anomaly at the same stage, raising questions on quality control and validation, even as PSLV’s long-term reliability record remains strong (4 failures in 60+ launches).
While space launch is inherently complex, repeat failures in identical phases demand hard introspection.

India's space programme has quiet manufacturing workhorses most people have never heard of.
- MTAR: 5–10 micron tolerance, every major ISRO mission since the '90s.
- HHV: 30 years of precision optics coatings.
- Eon Space Labs: built a telescope in fused silica that was on PSLV C-62.
They don't make magazine covers. They make missions possible.

Three engineers who once worked on restoring human eyesight have now built India’s lightest space telescope — just 500 grams.
Eon Space Labs built:
→ MIRA: India’s lightest space telescope (500g)
→ 3–4x lighter than conventional payloads
→ Runs AI in orbit, not on the ground
→ Detects ships 11 km away, tracks movement across borders
→ 90%+ indigenous tech
Why this matters:
→ Real-time insights (flood alerts, crops, disaster response)
→ Lower data transmission costs
→ Faster decision-making
→ More satellites per launch (because lighter payloads)
→ Higher revisit frequency = better, fresher data
Most satellites capture data and send it back.
For decades, the space race was about reaching orbit. Now, it’s about what you can see and how fast you can act on it.
