Sadly, Nigerians will rather have politicians share monies to them, than build an enabling environment for them to work and earn a living.
Nigerian Government should stop sharing money to the people. I have never agreed with any policy or idea that is aimed at giving direct cash to the people. Let everybody work hard to get money to do whatever they want to do. The government should rather focus on creating enabling environment that makes earning easier.

Some days, all you need to boost your confidence in the practice of law is to sit in court and watch those who have distinguished themselves in the profession do what they do best. This morning, I watched the revered Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN, conduct proceedings in court. The poise, the command of the courtroom, and that compelling voice that holds your attention from beginning to end. It is simply amazing. Moments like this remind you that the practice of law is an art that can be refined over a lifetime. There is so much to learn, so much to admire, and so much to aspire to. The grind continues!

I have seen lawyers who have spent their entire lives practising law and have built fulfilling, successful and enviable careers from it. It is safe to say that you can put all your eggs in the basket of law practice and it will pay off big time. May God make it easy for us as he has been doing for others.

It’s so much that one of the Federal High Court judge sitting in Abuja doesn’t even have enough space in his court for lawyers to sit and conduct proceedings because of the volume of pre-election matters he is attending to at the moment. In fact, some days, litigants whose cases are not pre-election are forced to take another date just to allow the court finish up the pre-election matters listed for the day. To be a judge is not an easy job.
An FHC Judge just openly stated in court that he has 70 pre-election judgments to deliver between now and 30th November. If you apply for the bench simply because you saw Prado, nice Quarters and Police Orderly, anything else wey your eye see, take am like that.

This is open to law students across the federation. Well done, Sir!
This inaugural cohort of the Deji Adeyanju Foundation Mentorship Programme is strictly for those in the FCT and its environs. It is also important to note that this maiden edition of the programme is exclusively for law students. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Fathers should go out more with their daughters before they become adults. So that their children don’t see going on date with a man as a lifetime achievement

The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has urged heads of courts to promote professional standards, support the development of judicial officers and foster an institutional culture that upholds impartiality and accountability. She directed them to establish mechanisms to ensure that judges commenced sittings on time and that litigants and lawyers were promptly informed whenever court sessions were cancelled. She spoke in Abuja on Monday at the opening of the 2026 Roundtable for Heads of Courts, organised by the National Judicial Institute. Describing punctuality as a professional responsibility, she said it “must be treated as a professional obligation, not a matter of personal preference.” Kekere-Ekun said it was unacceptable for lawyers and litigants to travel long distances at considerable expense only to discover upon arrival that their cases would not be heard. She urged heads of courts to ensure that court registries had reliable procedures for notifying affected parties of changes to sitting schedules. On courtroom conduct, the CJN said judicial authority should be exercised with fairness, composure and respect. “Every litigant, regardless of social status, financial means or education, deserves dignity, while lawyers are entitled to courteous treatment. Firmness and courtesy are entirely compatible. A judge can control proceedings without humiliating counsel or a litigant,” she said. She also directed heads of courts to ensure that courtrooms remained professional environments free from bullying and harassment. punchng.com/2027-cjn-warns-j…

I know it’s my birthday and I’m supposed to be focused on enjoying myself, but I can’t help sharing this little thought from what I observed in court this morning. Our calling as lawyers does not mean we must argue every issue that comes our way. When a principle of law is clear, learn to concede and allow the court decide, no matter how unfavourable it may be to your case. The duty to represent your client does not require you to argue against the law. Concede, Counsel, concede. Tomorrow is another day and that same law may be in your favour.

Another year. Another chapter. A renewed sense of purpose. Life has taught me that every season has its assignment. There are seasons to learn, seasons to serve, seasons to lead, and seasons to build. I am grateful for every season that has brought me this far, for the lessons, the sacrifices, the people, and the experiences that have shaped the man I am becoming. As I turn a new age today, I do so with a deeper understanding of who I am, a clearer sense of where I am going, and an unshakable conviction that there is so much more to accomplish. Happy birthday to me!

I have learnt, and continue to learn, the law at the feet of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN @afamosigwe. He is a seasoned litigator and a fearless advocate whose remarkable ease in navigating complex legal principles speaks volumes about his years of learning, depth of experience, and dedication to the art and business of law. To learn from him is a privilege; to have the opportunity to drink directly from a source so richly endowed by God with the knowledge and wisdom of the law is a blessing I will never take for granted. Happy Birthday, My Teacher!
