Ethical Sponsorship Ireland: concerned with the commercialisation of projects involving children & raising awareness of the ethics of corporate sponsorship

#Breastfeeding is easier when mothers have support. As #WorldBreastfeedingWeek starts today, @WHO and @UNICEF call for: 1) countries to invest in programmes and policies that support breastfeeding, including reliable, empathetic healthcare support; 2) governments and employers to ensure family-friendly workplaces, with paid maternity leave, breastfeeding spaces and breaks, as well as access to affordable, high-quality childcare; 3) countries to develop and enforce laws to restrict the marketing of breast-milk substitutes, with monitoring to routinely report Code violations. @unicefchief and my full statement: who.int/news/item/31-07-2024…

Hoping all Irish politicians interested in protecting infant + maternal health will pop along to @LizOSullivanPhD's coffee morn in Leinster House to discuss how to implement the findings of the WBTi report which identifies key areas to improve to support #breastfeeding.
Very excited to be hosting a coffee afternoon tomorrow in Leinster House to talk to Irish politicians about the WBTi-Ireland findings and the importance of protecting, promoting, & supporting breastfeeding. Thanks to @unicefireland for supporting and funding this work (1/2).

In humanitarian emergencies, breastfeeding is critical to child survival. We support the Operational Guidance for Infant & Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF) which outlines evidence-based actions to safeguard the health of infants & young children in emergencies.

Excellent @RTEBrainstorm article by BFLGI member @LizOSullivanPhD and her academic colleagues. The high cost of infant formula is a huge concern for so many families.
We need to see some leadership on the issue of infant formula pricing. Supermarket points, vouchers, or promotions are not an equitable or sustainable solution to the rising prices of infant formula. Families and children are the ones who will suffer unless govt controls prices.
