about the #CanadaDisabilityBenefit lifting them OUT of poverty by the Liberals from 2020 to 2024. They can't afford food TODAY.. nevermind sparing extra to put into an RDSP for 10, 20, 30+ years from now. They need YOU to FIGHT the LPC to raise the CDB to what they promised. 2/2

"Strengthening our economy" Does not equal deflation. You've legislated & regulated #ODSP to NEVER escape poverty. "Creating jobs" 90% of those on ODSP are incapable of ANY employment. "Investing in better service delivery." No one delivers poverty better than you.

It must continually be said that every decision to intentionally kill reflects a lack of love and care. Such decisions are necessarily be driven by misguided judgment connected to fear, isolation, lack of treatment or care, feeling mistakenly 'like a burden,' as though life were less important than caregiving. It is false compassion. On the latest developments on the euthanasia and assisted suicide front, @MLInstitute's @rljcoelho writes: "While it’s a relief that government will no longer approve MAID for mental illness, it is unconscionable that they will add advance requests." "In cases I reviewed on Ontario’s MAID Death Review Committee, depression, trauma and isolation often drove requests that were approved, sometimes with no psychiatric expertise consulted, because there was also an accompanying physical diagnosis. Excluding mental illness as a “sole” condition is a good start, but the move still leaves other problems unaddressed. A better fix would be to repeal Track 2, the expansion to persons with disabilities who are not dying, entirely, as the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has urged." "Consent given in advance cannot be fully informed; it often rests on fear of the future, not lived experience. My father had dementia, and his days held joy, laughter, love and dignity that neither he nor I could have foreseen. Ontario’s review of dementia cases found requests for MAID can be driven by fear of future decline, families raising MAID repeatedly on a patient’s behalf. It also found 86 per cent of these patients had not even received palliative care before MAID." macdonaldlaurier.ca/ottawa-k…

2/2 Consent given in advance is not informed consent. Rather, it is based on a past fear of the future, not lived reality. No amount of safeguards can make advance requests safe. Ottawa is making the same dangerous mistake again. Full column: 👇 nationalpost.com/opinion/ram…

We factually know with proof of MANY cases where people are simply choosing "Do I want to starve to death, freeze to death.. or use MAiD because it's better than the other two." They don't WANT to die at all.. but they ARE coerced into it through the poverty.. 5/

"Patients living with dementia face prejudice due to not only ableism but also ageism. It has also been shown that caregivers may not be good judges of the quality of life of their loved ones with dementia. Caregiver burden often influences the assessment by caregivers in terms of their patients' quality of life." – Dr. Alice Maria Chung, geriatrician, Special Joint Committee on MAID, Oct. 28, 2022

It has been Becker Muscular Dystrophy Awareness Week. I have shared some of what living with #BMD can mean and encouraged people to look beyond the wheelchair and the disability to the person. Awareness is about dignity, understanding and inclusion. It is also about hope for better treatments and, one day, a cure. The week ends. The hope doesn’t. #BeckerMuscularDystrophy #BMDAwareness #DisabilityAwareness

On predation by the elites and it's connecting to the democratic backsliding we are seeing worldwide.
The easiest way to make money isn't always by producing better goods or becoming more efficient. Often, it's through predation: using economic and political power to extract wealth from others. Sociologist Fred Block argues that democracy provides a way for ordinary citizens to fight back. By organizing politically, people can demand rules that limit predation, curb concentrated economic power, and prevent businesses from enriching themselves at society's expense. When democracy closes off the avenues for predation, businesses have a stronger incentive to compete through innovation, efficiency, and productivity rather than exploitation.

Justice Minister Sean Fraser said he and Health Minister Marjorie Michel will outline the “path forward,” before the House of Commons votes Wednesday on a private member’s bill which would block expanding assisted dying for people suffering from mental illnesses." #maid #assisteddying #mentalillness
