What a lovely name. The all ability cycling club.
We recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the All Ability Cycling Club. Among the highlights was a speech by 91-year-old Maria, who helped establish the club in 2014 as a member of the Friends of Bush Hill Park. Read Maria's story here: journeysandplaces.enfield.go…

Also, NEVER FORGET that Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally AGAINST downtown bike-lanes, later became one of their most vigourous supporters, because of EVIDENCE that bike-lanes are better for downtown business than any street parking they replace.

For context, this is the biggest annual reduction in road casualties ever seen in the UK (excl COVID)

Please RT & sign. Would you❤️a clear 🚲 lane in preference to dodging the traffic, car doors and vehicles crossing your path by the shops in Fore Street, Heavitree? Sign this bus lane petition to make that more possible. 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲 🚗🚙🚕🚗🚚 #Exeter democracy.devon.gov.uk/mgEPe…

Great discussion on the health benefits of walking & cycling today with @DHSCgovuk, @activetraveleng, and the Walking & Cycling Alliance. Active travel creates healthier communities, and we want everyone to have access to infrastructure that allows them to walk or cycle. 🚴🚶

Some people attribute congestion to cycle lanes. However, I have another theory: in 1970, there were 200 million cars worldwide in 1990, there were 500 million cars worldwide in 2023, there were 1.47 billion cars worldwide

1\ A *remarkable* 6769 objection responses to the Exeter Active Streets Trail referred to increased pollution. It was mentioned in 21% of the objections. @ExeterCouncil have now released data for NOx in 2023, which overlaps with the Trial for 4 months. committees.exeter.gov.uk/doc…

Great news. Safer paths for 🚲 🚶‍♀️ 👩‍🦼 each winter 👍 @stuarthughes747 & @DevonCC
Woohoo DCC papers reveal DCCve bought the machine trialled to treat ice on paths/cycle paths. Apparently there's a gizmo that can tackle overgrown vegetation too! Thankyou to YOU our supporters for campaigning & @Stuarthughes747 for delivering this #cyclingisrealtransport 🍾🎉❄️

Good infrastructure promotes healthy living. Maybe doctors should be running transportation departments.

The next Exeter Kidical Mass ride will take place on Sunday September 22. Meet at Belmont Park at 11 for an 11:15 start. The ride will then head to County Hall, where children can plant flags on the lawn to remind councillors of their duty to provide safe streets for all.

It is notable that the Dutch, who have the happiest teenagers in this study, enable high levels of independence in kids by being able to safely cycle to and from school, activities and friends’ houses. We could learn something from that. theguardian.com/society/arti…

The political wind seems to have shifted nationally from a headwind to a helpful following breeze 🚲 As @ExeterCycling say, it's a great time to be encouraging our Cllrs to make sure the County Council is getting ready to take advantage of what looks like new funding soon.

The road space is there, the political will is not. Alphington Road, Fore Street Heavitree, Topsham Road, Barrack Road, Pinhoe Road and many more also have space for proper infrastructure
