There was this constant flip flop of expectations during the match - you expect Ki to stand and strike and Malenko to work the body on the mat and it was really the opposite most of the way. Great stuff
but he immediately went to the mat and worked leverage based offense pushing and pulling on Malenko's head - funny enough Malenko immediately had to go to strikes to get space between him and Ki again.
Ki was getting locked up in chanceries and headlocks in the middle of the match and Malenko was using those spots to lay in strikes and Ki immediately went to the mat again which was interesting because you know Ki would have stood and traded in his younger days
this is a classic "leverage" style BA match and not the prototypical Bati- Bati style that you would expect with Low Ki involved. Lots of transition work based on the super ring awareness of both guys. Ki seems to want to open the match up at many spots but Malenko says no.
