Introducing: Overseas Family School ♟️
📍 Singapore 🇸🇬
✨ The benefits of chess for children can start at an early age. At Overseas Family School in Singapore, chess learning beautifully connects with many different disciplines. It combines songs, dance, chess yoga, and traditional learning methods to inspire learning in the younger grades, creating a positive growth mindset, and building a strong chess culture within the school.
♟ "Chess is a mandatory subject in our school. We offer a twice-weekly after-school chess program for Middle and High School students. Enrichment classes (one hour per week) are offered for Kindergarten, Elementary and Middle School students.
Chess is included in academic reports, just like any other school subject. The main idea of our curriculum is to support interdisciplinary and transversal approaches. We always try to relate chess thinking to situations that we face in real and school life outside the chess world."
🎖️ A FIDE Gold School award recipient in 2024, they also engaged the community by organizing important social events like their Checkmate to Racism tournament, an event which celebrates unity, respect, and the global chess community.
👏 Coaches Dijana Dengler and Philipp Ziegler helped create a very popular program that serves about 3000 students from 70 countries. Kudos to them for their passion and dedication to education and to the children!

Introducing: Curro Baobab ♟️
📍 Botswana 🇧🇼
✨ What kind of difference can a committed educational chess advocate make?
At Curro Baobab in Gaborone, Botswana, Vincent Masole has used chess to bring together critical thinking and social engagement in a fun and welcoming way. Mr. Masole is not only a FIDE School Instructor (SI), but he is also an International Arbiter (IA) and International Organizer (IO).
Although he is very familiar with the world of competitive chess, he has built culture and community in his school through educational chess. "Chess in our school is mostly used to help kids improve skills like patience, decision making, anger management, critical thinking, respect, discipline, focus, creativity and many more needed (skills) in today's world".
♟ Curro Baobab was a recipient of the FIDE School Bronze award in 2025. With kids ranging from elementary to middle school ages, they use indoor and outdoor activities, as well as leverage social media to bring attention to the chess program and raising awareness about the value of educational chess.
👏 Big thanks to Coach Vincent Masole and his team for making the world a better place each day through chess!

📍 China 🇨🇳
✨ What kind of an impact can you make when you have not only your local community behind you, but also a national culture that values chess and game-based learning?
♟ At Liyuan Primary School (Liyuan Educational Group), government and federation support help the school offer a chess program that is a mandatory subject in school, meant to enhance the holistic learning potential of each child. Using a well-organized system of teaching, along with well qualified FIDE trained instructors, Liyuan Primary School is an example of a large-scale educational chess system. They even incorporate a tug-of-war game with the kids to let out some energy!
"We firmly believe that through learning chess, students can not only develop good logical thinking and strategic planning skills but also learn how to cooperate and compete in a team during the learning process.
