Cities and municipalities have a critical role to play in integrating health impacts into their climate adaptation and mitigation planning. We look forward to working with other urban health networks like @c40cities to maximize our impact across the 600+ @FastTrackCities network.
Health and climate change are interconnected in ways that are altering health outcomes for millions of people. My latest “Aftershocks” blog post is focused on addressing those interconnections.

Cities are where climate action becomes health action. Protecting communities requires local data, community leadership, and equitable investment. That is why climate resilience must be part of urban health.
Climate risks are global, but they land in our territories. 🌍
Our CEMR Policy Advisor, Axelle Griffon, was invited today to speak at the European Parliament ENVI Committee workshop "Managing climate risks on the road to a climate resilient Europe".
She discussed the forthcoming Integrated Framework for Climate Resilience and Risk Management with Jaroslav Mysiak, Sibylle Steimen, Elina Bardram, and MEPs.
Our message on behalf of Europe's local and regional governments:
📍Put territories at the centre of the framework.
💶Move from short-term project funding to long-term resilience investment, with easier access for smaller municipalities.
🛠️Equip local governments with risk data, technical assistance and peer learning.
🌊Prioritise prevention, nature-based solutions and fair risk-sharing where risks exceed local capacity.
The cost of inaction is rising for citizens, businesses and public budgets. Local governments are the first line of response, and they need to be part of the solution from the start.

Urban residents face a higher burden of #MentalHealth challenges, yet many cities lack the workforce to meet demand. Equity means ensuring access to care is not defined by a ZIP or postal code. @FastTrackCities
There are huge disparities globally in access to mental health workers. While some countries have 100+ per 100,000 adults; others have fewer than 10. We must scale training, lower barriers, and invest in the mental health workforce. #MentalHealth
