When we started in this #menopause #sexdifferences space ~20 yrs ago reviewers comments included “as nephrologists, whether patient is male or female not important or relevant”, so you can imagine our grant significance scores 😱
We have come a long way! ❤️ @NIDDKgov @ASNKidney

Happy to see this one out in the world after a mammoth effort. If you like c-Src (who doesn’t?!) and watching vessels blow up like a balloon, this one is for you!
Thanks to @J_Cell_Sci, who made this a delightful process. journals.biologists.com/jcs/…

June 23rd is Global HHT Awareness Day. It's not a date that was chosen at random.
June 23rd is Grace Nolan's birthday, who tragically passed away from HHT at 9 years old.
Let's get loud this Sunday and spread life-saving awareness

Excited to share that our latest research published in @NatureCVR! We looked at Y chromosome genes in leukocytes and found UTY as an effector locus on the Y chromosome. Knockout of UTY promotes epigenetic changes in monocytes that promotes profibortic polarization of macrophages
Horitani and Chavkin et al. report that loss of the Y chromosome in macrophages correlates with fibroblast activation in the myocardium and deficiency in the #epigenetic regulator Uty increases fibrosis and #CardiacDysfunction.
