Top from Jay Lynch - he forces Bruno Guimarães into a reaction, just like Ørjan Nyland did in the World Cup RO16.
Btw, a longer-form written piece on my penalty analysis framework is loading… ✍️

He’ll certainly learn from this but Salmon’s desire to engage & win the ball back immediately is what ultimately cost him here. He starts the sequence well, initiating contact & positioning himself goal-side.
But rather than delaying & looking to force the play wide, using his body to win the space, he becomes too focused on winning the ball back which allowed the striker that bit of separation.
3 things to look at after Doué makes contact with the ball:
•Left foot stepping in front of the defender & staying there throughout the sequence.
•Right elbow into the defender’s chest.
•Right foot hooking the ball to turn into space.
The level of coordination involved in protecting the ball is ridiculous.

PSG forwards nearly all of them attempt to shot the ball on the reverse angle of Juan Garcia.
All the shots was really hard to save. Kvaratskhelia first one hit the target, there was a second one Garcia found it hard to save, and then Doué scored by targeting the reverse angle.
Probably, Luis Enrique staff have been working on that with the players.

His ideas are underrated and has got a reputation now because his Newcastle team was mainly built as a physical one but his Bournemouth team was completely different and only really failed because of the level of players he had.

It's about time Barcelona highline and offside trap got punished.
Cubarsi did well earlier in putting Sabitzer offside for that Guirassy disallowed goal (1st GIF.)
However, Pascal Gross timed his run and broke the offside trap for Dortmund's 2nd goal (2nd gif)

Some of the plays from Colorado Rapids yesterday.
•Pass & move sequences with the emphasis on reverse passes to play against momentum.
•Paxten Aaronson showing good ball manipulation & understanding of rhythm changes to affect opponents.

This passage of play amplifies many of the current issues at united.
The lack of empathy, connection and the increased tempo/weight on passing showcase a complete disconnection amongst the players before any fitness issue is to be raised.
The weight and importance of 2 touch passing compliments dynamism. PSG often play with a flow around 2 touch passing which also triggers movement from surrounding teams on the first touch. This completely merges the dyamic-positional model.
Here united are firing the passes into players with already questionable first touches ('interiors' that cannot be proficient in central areas due to '343 system' tailored recruitment), and this will be passed of as them being ‘aggressive, on the front foot or up for it’ - it is a technical issue cover up.
True lack of natures on a technical level cannot be disguised at this level, which now plays on psych aspects - ‘going through the motions’.

When we talk about pressing, I feel like we always talk about intensity. But found this in article @spielvercom in 2017 about access which still resonates with me:
