“Iran is a…threat to the Western way of life…” I have absolutely no theory of mind for a person who could say a thing so absurd. You’d think Xerxes was marching on Athens. Can someone, anyone, please steel man the thesis that Iran will destroy the Western world unless Pete Hegseth stops them? People would immediately recognize it as the raving of a paranoid lunatic if it wasn’t being repeated on television by men in suits. So ridiculous.
People should be able to take the L. I supported the war. I trusted the plan and thought (still do) that Iran is an unacceptable threat to the Western way of life. I still trust President Trump's clear belief that it was necessary at the time to do something like it to prevent a nuclear Iran, which seems to have been accomplished, at least for now. But it's also clear that it's been a political disaster, that it's the main cause of the Midterms defeat, and that it should be wound down so that we can save America from Islamo-communism.

Hey @grok, concise, no spin Across all the released Epstein files, who seemed RELENTLESSLY, OBSESSIVELY DESPERATE to get onto Jeffrey Epstein’s island knowing he was a convicted pedophile in 2012? State full name only.

When we return next week, we’ll get 218 signatures for Epstein Files Transparency Act II, which guarantees a vote. Survivors will be able to get their own records, State Attorneys General can prosecute crimes, and we can take the DOJ to court for keeping critical files hidden.⚖️

These are the details of Russell Brand's rape conviction: - Brand met a fan at one of his gigs in 2009 and invited her backstage - She had a consensual threesome with him - "used her tongue on his anus" "within moments" of meeting him - Days later Brand invited her to his house for sex, she agrees - The Times attacks Brand in 2022 for joining Rumble and becoming a right wing "conspiracy theorist" - The Times and Channel 4 colaborate for a big documentary expose in 2023 - Times says it had the allegations since 2019 but waited until his political shift to release them for some reason - Complainants for his criminal case all come forward after the doc drops, some contacted and encouraged by journalists - Jury concludes the woman 17 years ago consented to everything except anal sex, at which point she was raped - Rape charge is bundled with other sexual assault charges, including him grabbing a woman's breasts (which jury concluded was forced) who then gave him oral sex (which jury found was not forced) Brand now faces anything from 8 to 15 years in jail.

BREAKING: A mystery seller is trying to dump about $500 million in data center loans all at once, per Bloomberg, days after the midterms raised doubts about many projects. The anonymous seller is auctioning a dozen loans, including a $25 million piece of financing for a huge Stargate site in New Mexico, the joint project of OpenAI, SoftBank and Oracle. Oracle has already sent that site’s developer a force majeure notice, a legal claim that events beyond its control may excuse it from its obligations.

I’m all for championing excellence over mediocrity, but it is a mistake to imply that academic achievement is the only measure of it. Jocks and prom queens aren’t the antithesis of merit and striving, and in some ways, their arenas are more “real” than academic curriculums. Fight passivity and low standards!

Hey @grok, I’m sure as hell not reading this post, so can you just ten me if Ted acknowledges that his explicit admission that he ran for the US Senate to champion the interests of a foreign country is emblematic of why Americans rejected the GOP in this election cycle?

BREAKING: Vice President JD Vance privately slams Netanyahu for being "wrong on everything" about Iran, per Axios. Vance quietly warned that the war was "highly unpopular and could cost Republicans the election." Trump didn't listen to Vance and at one point considered launching strikes before the midterms, "as Netanyahu was pressing him to do."

“The reason we lost is the war.” That’s true, but not the whole story. You guys all but put your hand on the Bible and swore you wouldn’t do it, and everyone knows the promise was broken solely to serve the interests of a foreign country. An appalling, brazen betrayal.
One of the things the data analysts on our side obsessed over was "composition"—whether the electorate looked close enough to 2024 for Republicans to win. And despite polls that showed a Democrat blowout, the data kept on telling us the same story: in some states turnout was merely OK, in other states it was downright amazing, and in no state was it catastrophic. There was a genuine sense of optimism on our team: our people were showing up. So, I asked the smartest data guy I know, does that mean we're going to shock the world? "No," he told me. "We might do better than the polls suggest. But the data is telling us that a lot of Trump/Vance 2024 voters are pissed and planning to vote for the other guys. Our voters are turning out, but they may not vote for us." Well, that looks prophetic now. Our voters did show up. In Florida, for example, the electorate was 9 points more Republican than Democrat, just a couple points worse than 2024. Undoubtedly there were places we could have done better on turnout. But the main problem is not turnout. The main problem is that many people who voted for Trump/Vance in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. There will be a lot of infighting and arguing over what happened and why that is. One of the pollsters I really respect told me that our economic messaging wasn’t sharp enough down the stretch. I’m sure that’s true. But the real reason we lost is obvious to almost everyone. Another pollster—one of the smartest people I know in politics, told me yesterday we’d lose the generic ballot by 13 points. I felt negative going into Tuesday, but even I was shocked by this. In his polling, he saw that a lot of Trump 2024 voters were angry and planning to vote for Democrats. He asked those voters who had abandoned us what would cause them to come back on our team. The top four answers, accounting for nearly all of the responses were: 1) End the war 2) Focus on cost of living/inflation 3) Put America First 4) Change our relationship to Israel Our voters showed up. And the above four reasons are why many of them voted for Democrats. This is according to a pollster who nailed the results. While many spent Monday attacking Rachel Campos Duffy for calling for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, it turns out her political advice was sound. (She’s also a great person.) In the next few months, there's going to be a lot of gaslighting. Expect to hear any number of establishment politicians say the solution to our woes is amnesty. I'm open to the idea that we should change enforcement—by focusing more on businesses that hire illegal labor, for instance. But anyone pushing amnesty is lying to you. The reason we lost is the war. The president himself said so last night. If you'd like to argue it was worth it, that losing the Senate for the next 6 years was worth it, then do so. Argue it was a worthwhile cost to pay. Agree or disagree, that's at least honest. But everyone knows why we lost. And any honest conversation about where we go from here must start there. I remain hopeful about our country. To the people who are pissed off and want to say, “I told you so”: you’re right, you did tell us so. Take that energy into electing Republicans who share your worldview. To the people who are just pissed at the results, you should be. Let’s take that anger and get back to the work of saving our country.
