New from me: Until recently, the gap between comfortably-off and just-getting-started could plausibly be crossed in a decade or two of hard work. Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true. My column on moving from income world to wealth world: ft.com/content/6a35508c-c0bd…

When it comes to AI agents / AI tooling + coding, I hear an awful lot of talk about: Efficiency Iteration speed / PR output rate / lines of codes produced I hear zero mentions about: Quality Customer obsession This will bite back, and it probably already is...

This absurd "one-liner" will show you the name of the command running on each port on MacOS, which is something I need to do constantly so leaving it here: ``` sudo lsof -iTCP -sTCP:LISTEN -n -P | awk 'NR>1 {print $9, $1, $2}' | sed 's/.*://' | while read port process pid; do echo "Port $port: $(ps -p $pid -o command= | sed 's/^-//') (PID: $pid)"; done | sort -n ```

Backlogs, like all long lists, collect dust, grow stale, and become obligations rather than opportunities. We don’t do backlogs. I don’t recommend you do either. You know the important stuff to work on. If you forget, it probably wasn’t worth remembering.

The Staff Engineer's Path's explanation of this role is: an engineer empowered by upper management to act meta-rationally: that is, to stand outside and above rational systems, and to intervene based on nebulous context and purpose. Recommended! xitter.gq/whereistanya/status/15…

What if I will tell you how we could solve fit-to-width text with pure CSS without any hardcoded parameters? Curiously, scroll-driven animations will allow us to do just that! I wrote a new article where I continue exploring the experimental implementations of the latest specs.

I trained a neural network for 300 hours on the word "curdle" and asked it to write a stageplay. This was the result.

Well that's unexpected. Omicron appears to have evolved from an old strain of the virus, rather than any of the currently dominant variants. And it must have done so somewhere out of sight from any of the existing genomic monitoring efforts.
Replying to @trvrb
This extremely long branch (>1 year) indicates an extended period of circulation in a geography with poor genomic surveillance (certainly not South Africa) or continual evolution in a chronically infected individual before spilling back into the population. 4/16
