Five weeks before Pearl Harbor, an American destroyer was blown in half in the North Atlantic. 115 men died. The United States wasn't at war yet.
USS Reuben James was an old ship by 1941. She was one of the hundreds of narrow, four-funneled "flush deck" destroyers built just after World War I, launched in 1919. She spent the 1920s and 30s patrolling the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Atlantic.
Her name came from the early days of the Navy. According to tradition, Reuben James was a boatswain's mate who threw himself in front of a sword blow meant for Stephen Decatur during hand-to-hand fighting at Tripoli in 1804.
By 1941, Britain was fighting Germany alone, and its lifeline was the convoys crossing the Atlantic. The U-boats were strangling them.
President Roosevelt was determined to help without officially going to war. America sent weapons through Lend-Lease. Then American warships began escorting convoys across the western half of the Atlantic, handing them off to the British near Iceland.
It was a war in everything but name.
In September 1941, a U-boat fired at the destroyer USS Greer. Roosevelt ordered American ships to shoot U-boats on sight. On Oct 17, a torpedo hit USS Kearny, killing 11 sailors.
Reuben James was based in Iceland. On Oct 23, she left Newfoundland with four other American destroyers to escort convoy HX-156, a long line of merchant ships bound for Britain.
Before dawn on Oct 31, the convoy was southwest of Iceland. A wolf pack was in the area. Reuben James moved into position between one of the convoy's ammunition ships and where the U-boats were believed to be.
Watching from U-552 was Erich Topp, one of Germany's best U-boat commanders. In the half-light he saw a destroyer and fired two torpedoes.
At least one hit Reuben James on the port side, near the bow.
It set off her forward magazine. The explosion tore the entire front third of the ship away. It sank instantly, taking almost everyone in it, including every officer aboard.
The stern stayed afloat for about five minutes. Survivors scrambled into the freezing water, which was covered in thick fuel oil.
Then the stern sank. As it went down, some of the depth charges on her deck exploded among the men swimming nearby.
The destroyers Niblack and Hilary P. Jones raced in and pulled survivors from the oily sea. Many were so coated in fuel that rescuers could barely hold onto them.
44 enlisted men survived. 115 died, including her captain, Lieutenant Commander Heywood Edwards.
Reuben James was the first American warship sunk in World War II.
The country was shocked and angry. Within weeks, Congress changed the neutrality laws to let American merchant ships carry guns and sail into war zones.
Folk singer Woody Guthrie wrote a song about her, asking listeners to remember the names of the men who went down. It's still sung today.
But America still didn't declare war. That decision was made for it five weeks later, on Dec 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor.
Erich Topp survived the war. He sank more than 30 ships and became one of Germany's most decorated U-boat commanders. After the war, he joined the new West German Navy and rose to admiral in NATO, serving alongside the navy he had once fought.
Reuben James and her crew are mostly forgotten now, overshadowed by what came after. But for those 115 men, the war started early.

I guess that joining the EU is OK tho.
This prick needs to go. Every day he's in office he makes Canadians poorer and more divided.
Since replacing the "Idiot King" he has yet to tell the truth about anything.

Boycott Costco. They are selling only Halal meat. This was Recorded October 27, 2025 and despite complaints from customers who noticed the Halal sticker they doubled down.
Last week the Langley, BC Costco said that ‘all’ their meat is now Halal. Not just chicken. I am trying to confirm this.
An Imam invokes the name of Allah (Satan) during the slaughter.
Do you want to eat meat that is being sacrificed to a false god? This is in violation of our Christian heritage.
Canada is NOT a Muslim country and 5% of the population cannot be permitted to dictate to the majority what we eat.
You have consumer power! Are you willing to cancel your Costco membership and use that power.
Costco is a global corporation.
They are no longer a trusted business in Canada.
I will be posting a petition in the near future.
More about halal…
The Canadian Halal Food Certifying Agency (CHFCA) provides Costco with the Halal certification for their chicken....
CHFCA's published organizational chart identifies Nasir Hussain as president, Mukhtar Khokhar as chief financial officer, and Armaan Hussain, Hoossen Auckbarallee, and Khurram Farooq as directors.
They claim to be independent and not associated with any Islamic organization or mosque.
It is reported that a portion of Halal funds terrorism.

Halal Products: By integrating halal standards into public policy, we are allowing Islamic doctrine to shape Canadian institutions. Halal is not just a food preference; it’s a vehicle for enforcing Sharia norms across society—quietly, broadly, and without consent. This undermines our values and erodes our national identity. This is not about accommodation—it’s about submission. It is important to note that according to the Quran 5:5 all food is lawful. action4canada.com/wp-content…
Halal is a weapon being used to achieve Islam’s goal to:

Ritual Slaughter of Halal Meats...in 'their' words....
"Halal meat is what is “permitted” (the exact translation of the word being “lawful” for Muslims), as opposed to what is haram (“forbidden”). In butchery, only sheep, cattle, goats, and camels can be halal, as well as horses, rabbits, and certain poultry. Pork is not included.
Ritual slaughter of halal meat, also called halal, is a term referring to the variety of animal slaughter associated with Islamic dietary laws.
The slaughtering process requires Muslims to invoke the name of Allah during the slaughter. The animal must be alive and healthy before being slaughtered, and each step must be carried out in the exact order; otherwise, the animal cannot be considered halal." amcvh.ca/elements/clients/

The year is 1746. You live in the Highlands, weeks after Culloden. The redcoats burn your house and drive the cattle of the glen down to Fort Augustus, 2,000 at a time, where dealers up from Yorkshire buy them by the lump. You walk to the camp to beg for one cow back for the children and are turned away at the gate. The old die of hunger on the bare hillside while the Duke of Cumberland holds horse races on the flat ground below.
The year is 1847. You live in Ireland, a country that lived off its cattle until conquest handed the herds to the landlords and left you an acre of potatoes. The potatoes have rotted black in the ground. The ships leaving for England are loaded to the rails with cattle, pigs and butter, and your neighbours are found dead in the ditches with their mouths stained green from eating grass. A million die. The man running relief from the Treasury, Charles Trevelyan, writes that the famine will bring about a salutary revolution in the habits of a nation. He is knighted for his work.
The year is 1905. You are Herero, in what is now Namibia, a people whose whole life is cattle. The German general has ordered every Herero shot, with or without cattle, and the rest driven into the desert to die of thirst. In the camp at Swakopmund the women are made to boil the heads of the dead and scrape them clean with shards of glass, for shipping to universities in Germany. Four Herero in five die. The survivors are forbidden by law to own a cow.
The year is 1932. You are Kazakh. The Party has taken your herds and sent them to feed Moscow and Leningrad, and the bodies along the roads are stacked like firewood. You pull a sled across the steppe with your dead child on it, and if you run for China the border guards shoot you. Four Kazakhs in ten die, and the ones left become a minority in their own country.
The year is 2026. You milk cows in County Cork, where the cattle sailed for England while your great-great-grandparents chewed grass in the ditch, and your own government has modelled culling nearly 200,000 dairy cows to meet a climate target.
Take a people's animals and hunger does the rest. The redcoats knew it. The Treasury knew it. The general and the Party knew it.
Ireland learned it in a ditch with grass in its mouth, and is now drawing up the list itself.

I research EOD warriors who’ve perished and recommend their names to the EOD Memorial Board. Last year, the Board approved 27 names. This year, I’ve presented 29 names for review. The Board either votes to add the person to the EOD Memorial or requests more information. The Board also advises if a name does not meet all criteria. Names that meet all criteria are added to the EOD Memorial the first Saturday in May every year. The author of the poem below is unknown, but I thought some of you might like to read it:
I never dreamed it would be me,
My name for all eternity,
Recorded here at this hallowed place,
Alas, my name, no more my face.
“In the line of duty” I hear them say,
My family now the price will pay,
My folded flag stained with their tears,
We only had those few short years.
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest,
My sword I pass to those behind,
And pray they keep this thought in mind.
I never dreamed it would be me,
And with heavy heart and bended knee,
I ask for all here from the past,
Dear God, let my name be the last.

Looney Leftoids in Saskatoon, SK talk about neurodivergence like it’s real. However, neurodivergence is a branding exercise, not biology. Everyone’s brain is shaped by unique combinations of thousands of genetic variants. Attention, social processing, sensory thresholds, and executive function are all continuous traits. The United Nations was established after World War II with a clear mandate: resolve international conflicts and prevent wars.
Yet when major geopolitical flashpoints ignite, the UN is usually absent. This is not an operational oversight; it is a structural defect built directly into the Security Council veto. Because any permanent member or key ally can block resolutions, the UN’s core peacekeeping mandate remains eternally gridlocked when and where it matters most.
Unable to fulfill its primary objective, the UN has turned inward to survive - a classic case of institutional mission creep. Today, it has morphed into one of the largest bureaucratic apparatuses in world history, absorbing $68 to $74 billion annually. This includes $5.1 to $5.4 billion for peacekeeping operations and $3.5 to $3.7 billion to maintain a workforce of up to 190,000 personnel.
The UN also operates in isolation from ordinary economic reality. Under the 1946 Convention on the Privileges and Immunities of the United Nations, its staff enjoy lifelong exemptions from national income taxes on their salaries. Meanwhile, the taxpayers funding this system face escalating tax burdens driven by UN-backed climate and economic policies.
By transferring its focus away from war prevention, the UN has redirected its authority toward climate regulation and managing migration flows. Treaties like the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change operate unhindered by Security Council vetoes. This allows unelected officials to manage vast financial mechanisms - including carbon credit registries and the Green Climate Fund - with minimal accountability.
In practice, these strict carbon emissions targets penalise Western industry while competitors like China and India expand heavy production under developing-nation exemptions. This is global wealth redistribution under the banner of environmental stewardship.
A similar pattern governs the UN’s humanitarian aid for mainly illegal migrants. Initiatives like the Global Compact for Migration institutionalise and facilitate mass population flows, which erode national sovereignty.
Unable to stop war, the UN’s survival now depends on fabricating fresh mandates. It has traded its original peacekeepers purpose for climate control and migration management. What's next?

On the morning of April 16, 1947, a French cargo ship called the Grandcamp was tied up at the docks in Texas City, Texas.
She was a former American Liberty ship, built during World War II and handed to France after the war. Now she was being loaded with around 2,300 tons of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, much of it produced at old wartime ordnance plants and headed to help feed a Europe still recovering from the war.
Ammonium nitrate is also a key ingredient in explosives. Almost nobody on the docks that morning seemed to fully understand that.
Shortly after 8 AM, crew members noticed smoke coming from one of the cargo holds. The captain didn't want to ruin the cargo with water, so he ordered the hatches closed and steam pumped in to smother the fire. It was exactly the wrong thing to do. The heat and pressure built inside the hold, and the smoke pouring out of the ship turned a strange, bright orange.
It was beautiful. So people came to watch.
Workers stopped what they were doing. Families gathered along the waterfront. Kids at a nearby school pressed against the windows. The Texas City Volunteer Fire Department rushed to the docks and started spraying water on the ship's deck, which was getting so hot the water was boiling off.
At 9:12 AM, the Grandcamp exploded.
The blast was so powerful it was felt over 100 miles away. It knocked two small planes flying overhead out of the sky. It shattered windows in Galveston, 10 miles across the bay. It sent a wave rolling over the docks and threw burning debris across the city. One of the Grandcamp's anchors, weighing about two tons, was later found more than a mile and a half away, buried in the ground. Steel fragments rained down on the Monsanto chemical plant next door, which went up in flames, along with oil refineries and storage tanks along the waterfront.
Of the 28 men in the Texas City Volunteer Fire Department, 27 were killed. They had been standing right next to the ship.
And it wasn't over. Docked nearby was another ship, the High Flyer, carrying more ammonium nitrate and sulfur. It caught fire in the chaos. Rescue crews tried for hours to tow it away. They couldn't. Around 1 AM the next morning, the High Flyer exploded too, destroying another ship beside it and leveling more of the port.
At least 581 people died, and some estimates run higher. Thousands were injured. Many victims were never identified, and dozens are buried together in a memorial cemetery in Texas City. Some of the people standing closest to the Grandcamp were simply never found.
It remains the deadliest industrial accident in American history.
Survivors and families sued the federal government, arguing it had been careless in producing, packaging, and shipping the fertilizer. It became one of the first major class action lawsuits against the United States. In 1953 the Supreme Court ruled the government couldn't be held liable. Congress eventually passed a relief bill in 1955 to compensate some of the victims.
That two-ton anchor still sits in a memorial park in Texas City today, right where people can walk up and touch it.
The bigger lesson apparently didn't stick. Ammonium nitrate would go on to cause disasters around the world for decades afterward, including the massive 2020 explosion in Beirut.
But in 1947, it was a small Texas town that learned it first, while half the waterfront stood outside watching the pretty orange smoke.

Absolutely correct.
Democrats should be happy about high gas prices. This is exactly what all of them wanted to push for “green” energy to “save the planet.”
The fact that they’re outraged about the higher prices recently just goes to show they recognize that the world runs on oil, not solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries.
Before Trump, higher oil/gas prices (and less use) fulfilled climate goals. All this is now forgotten as higher gas/energy costs are used as political cudgel against Trump. Politics trumps policy every time

So I just received a phone call on my private number from "journalist" @jordangreennc of rawstory dot com.
He wanted to talk to me about @DataRepublican's "Democracy Files" and the ongoing Color Revolution revealed in those same files.
I did what I normally do when a "journalist" cold calls me and I reminded him that his chosen profession is a malodorous blight of infamous lies and misinformation, I recommended that he listen to the tapes and report fairly, and then I hung up.
However, I know he has also been contacting others via email, and I have seen the loaded questions he is asking to further the conclusion he reached before he ever started on his story. Those "questions" rotate around four assumptions that he has obviously already determined to be true:
1. Donald Trump is an illegitimate tyrant bent on destroying "our democracy."
2. The Color Revolution plotters are simply patriots trying to preserve "our democracy."
3. Everyone uncovering the plot is a liar trying to mislead the public into believing that this highly benevolent group of patriotic Americans is instead really mounting a coup, and we are irresponsible for creating such misinformation.
4. The people uncovering the coup plot are actually the ones trying to ignite a violent civil war.
Folks, please remember that the "Narrative" component of a textbook color revolution depends on a compliant media that actively seeks to undermine and destroy the "legitimacy" of the serving government in the days and weeks before the Color Revolutionaries get to the trigger event for their coup.
The article this man is writing is a part of that Narrative component. I'm not accusing him of being in bed directly with the plotters, but I do know that fellow travelers in the Democrat/Media Complex usually need no prompting to spread disinformation and lies when it comes to Donald Trump.
The Color Revolution attempt unfolds before our very eyes.
