Anti-vegans ALWAYS seem to misunderstand the whole point of veganism... It's the recognition that sentient beings matter morally because they have interests and therefore should not be used as a means to human ends.

Slavery is defined by ownership. Non-humans exploited by humans are considered chattel property.
Stop deflecting to excuse your participation in the most brutal and persistent episode of oppression ever perpetrated by humans.

Chattel slavery has existed throughout human history and was practiced by just about all cultures at some point. Human slavery is still with us. Women and girls are trafficked for sex; children are forced into marriage and are forced into being soldiers; many women are trapped in violent relationships with men who control their lives. Maybe we should think more about ending the slavery that still exists rather than arguing about completely arbitrary apologies and reparations.
Can racist anti-vegans stop policing the speech of others to excuse their rape, enslavement and oppression of the most victimised beings on the planet for pleasure.

I'll never forget seeing around 100 dead jackdaws lying at the base of a tall factory wall. The owner was worried they'd been poisoned, and pointed to the tree opposite where they always roosted at night.
This was November 6th.
The night before there had been a lot of noisy fireworks in the neighbourhood.
I explained it was likely a sudden loud explosion from a firework frightened the sleeping birds into flight.
Birds, just like us, can't see in the dark, and flew at full speed straight into the brick wall...

A problem with reparations for slavery is that it is entirely arbitrary and has absolutely no limiting principle. Are the descendants of the Africans who were very active participants in the slave trade going to participate in paying the reparations? Are the descendants of Yorkshire weavers who exploited children as laborers going to pay reparations to the descendants of those children? Are the descendants of men who have exploited women going to pay reparations to the descendants of those women (big payout there)?
