Great to see progress in the EU this week on banning imported goods made with forced labour. Australia must follow suit or risk becoming a dumping ground for slave-made goods that are rejected from other markets.

And Reza’s family should never have had to fight so hard for justice for their son. Our laws should clearly hold companies and governments to account when they violate another person’s basic human rights, no matter where the harm occurs.

We were honoured to work with Reza’s parents, @YouCanCountOnMB and an incredible counsel team to help deliver this small measure of justice. But the systems and laws that led to Reza’s death remain today, and there are still people trapped on PNG as a result of this cruel system.

Australia needs strong sanctions laws - they're an important accountability tool to combat serious breaches of international law and human rights violations. @theACIJ @TIAustralia will continue to shine a light on activities that risk undermining the efficacy of these laws.
