A standard political entryist play, one I’ve watched since at least 2009, is to run two or three candidates in parallel so that radical, policy-resetting ideas get normalized and a new vanguard can eventually ditch the old coalition and its actual principles. You let the edgier figure (or figures) push the radical concepts - integralist and distributist economics, “common good” industrial policy, soft or hard rejection of classical liberalism - while the “reasonable” or more establishment-facing figure makes the same direction look moderate by comparison. The radical ideas get mainstreamed. The Overton window moves. The old movement’s commitments to limited government, economic liberty, and religious pluralism get quietly discarded in favor of the new program. This is basic dialectical politics applied to party capture.I’m watching this again with Fishback, whose orbit is thick with people advancing integralist/distributist ideas under edgelord packaging aimed at younger audiences. The same pattern shows up around Vance, who has associated with integralist and post-liberal figures who openly admire New Deal-style economic management and talk about an “American Caesar.” Rubio has moved toward the same integralist/distributist economic framework - the one that ends up functionally indistinguishable from Elizabeth Warren’s industrial policy or Klaus Schwab’s stakeholder capitalism. Rubio uses different rhetoric, but favors the same rejection of the market order and individual liberty in favor of top-down “common good” management. Meanwhile, certain tech funders are pouring money into both Christian Nationalist and post-liberal projects on one side and the usual horseshoe progressive operations on the other. So as a result, institutions and the country itself get torn up while the people funding the chaos position themselves for whatever comes next. Fishback, who, if I am not mistaken, will not be constitutionally eligible to run in 2028, may still campaign, raising an army of young, vengeful, resentful men that could be used as a valuable demographic gift for an eventual Republican candidate (or as a third-party spoiler). It is a long-game entryist strategy to replace one political order with another. The specific ideological vehicles (integralist Catholic social teaching, Protestant “Christian Nationalism,” “common good” corporatism, etc.) matter less than the method and the end state: a managed economy and society in which classical liberal constraints are treated as obstacles that must be removed in order to usher in the AI-dominated post-work world. So, look out for the multi-candidate or multi-faction play, track who is funding the radical normalization, and refuse to treat the “reasonable” version of the same program as an acceptable compromise. You are being played.
