What a week of fieldwork! We started in Gloucester including visiting @FrootkoTash ‘s most recent project in Barton & Tredworth - the rain didn’t dampen the colours or Tash’s endless enthusiasm!

This #BikeBus video has it all. The emotion, the excitement, the energy, the kids running, the cheering neighbors, the joy that can only be created on bikes.

Do trees ACTUALLY keep us cool?
We decided to get out there and measure the ground temperature 🌡️ in the sun ☀️ and under the shade of a tree 🌳
The results speak for themselves 👇

Removing on street parking in Toronto in favor of dining parklets led to a nearly 50x increase in revenue as compared to parking fees.
The math is common sense - we should build cities for people, not cars!

Another great street transformation in progress in Katowice. Warsaw street used to be a truly disgusting place, even despite some of the nicest buildings in the city lining its both sides. Now it's going to be green, with wide sidewalks and small architecture.

Why don't school playgrounds get brought up more in the conversation around badly designed, un-green places?
The fact most school playgrounds a concrete slab with little shade. Lucky if you have some grass or some plants.
Wouldn't kids rather play football on grass > concrete?

Whenever I see the excellent renewal work done on the Welsh Streets in Liverpool, I often find myself thinking of old Butetown.
I wonder what Butetown would have been like if, instead of flattening everything, we repaired the houses, kept the streets, didnt scatter the community

The painting is well underway on Hopewell Street, Tash Frookto's (@FrootkoTash) latest project in the city!
This is her 5th project in the city and once completed, 50 houses along this street will be painted in bright vivid colours along with art installations and murals!

Cycling along one of the greenest cycle lanes in London.🌿It has over 600m2 of rain gardens with #SuDS and 1000s of plants. Wouldn’t be amazing if all new cycle lanes could incorporate greenery like this? @willnorman @Labourstone @wfcouncil @TfL
