A candlelight vigil was organized to condemn the heinous attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam.

Cooperative institutions symbolise pride and self-reliance, beyond just financial transactions.
On the Tribhuvan Sahkari University Bill:
👉The central government will appoint key positions, such as vice-chancellors and executive board members, potentially leading to political interference and undermining university independence.
👉Although the bill claims IRMA will remain independent, it will, in reality, be bound by central government rules, limiting its decision-making power.
👉The proposed changes to the University Grants Commission (UGC) affect faculty and vice-chancellor appointments. New rules grant governors exclusive appointment powers, replacing the current system. This shift diminishes the elected state government's authority and impacts university governance.
👉The new rules also lower the required academic experience for vice-chancellors, allowing non-academic individuals to assume leadership roles. Ideally, vice-chancellors should be academic leaders, not bureaucrats, to prevent increased political interference.
👉The bill aims to train eight lakh people annually, but lacks clarity on implementation and job placement strategies.
