Post: 📅 This Month in Coastal Protection History On September 10, 2021, the @USACEHQ Coastal Texas Project Final Study was released, outlining a comprehensive plan to protect the Texas Gulf Coast from hurricanes and storm surge. The plan included the Galveston Bay Barrier System, known locally as the "Ike Dike," along with other nature-based and engineered solutions. Five years later, that vision is becoming reality. #CoastalTexasProject #GalvestonBay #IkeDike #GCPD #TexasCoast

🚨 Coastal protection trivia! The Coastal Texas Project isn't just the Ike Dike. It's a two-part strategy that combines bay barriers with shoreline and island protection to help safeguard our communities, economy, and environment. ✅gcpdtexas.com/our-projects/ #DidYouKnow #GalvestonBay #GCPD #CoastalTexasProject

✈️From the Gulf Coast to the Dutch coast, resilience knows no borders. Last week, GCPD attended the annual @ISTORMnetwork meet-up and @tudelft, culminating with the annual test closure of the Maeslantkering, the remarkable storm surge barrier that helps protect the Rotterdam region from flooding. The annual closure serves as a real-world readiness test ahead of the North Sea storm season. The insights gained from global leaders in coastal protection help inform the work we do every day to support a more resilient future for Texas communities. #CoastalProtection #Resilience #GCPD #DutchWaterManagement #ISTORM #TUdelft #CoastalTexas
