The heroine of our story is born in the quiet village of Domrémy, in northeastern France, around the year 1412 AD.
Jeanne d'Arc’s early life was marked by simplicity—she was the daughter of farmers, living in a region that had known war for decades.
A gem of a thread.

3. Necessity Is Truly The Mother of Invention
No lighter and want to smoke a cigarette?
Two batteries and a wire will do the trick
Want to cook but no stove or microwave?
You can boil water in a bucket with two cables wrapped around a metal slab plugged into an outlet.
I’ve even seen a convection oven built out of soda cans and loose wires.
And don’t get me started on the knives people make.
The human mind placed under pressure is capable of incredible ingenuity.

This penguin spent the first 6 years of his young career working in debt capital markets so I figured why not explain how I'm thinking about $MSTR if I was Saylor right now. I have no idea what is going to happen and these are just my best guesses so take it with a grain of salt and I am very likely to be wrong.
As mentioned in the thread below, $MSTR releases earnings tomorrow after the bell and is subject to a standard blackout period that all public companies have to abide by, hence the lack of recent Saylor capital markets activity and BTC purchases.
If I'm Saylor, I am already in discussions with the largest convertible debt buyers on the street ahead of tomorrow's earnings. Investors will sometimes choose to 'wall cross' on a specific name which means they go under NDA with the company to underwrite or evaluate an upcoming capital markets transaction and in doing so forgo the ability to trade in that company's securities until the information has been released publicly. This is a common occurrence in institutional capital markets and is how large M&A financings and other strategic transactions are facilitated pre-public announcement.
Given the significant premium that $MSTR is now trading at relative to its underlying book value, Saylor as A LOT of room to work with here. If I'm him I am working to get a $1-2B convert announced tomorrow with earnings alongside an expedited close by CoB Friday or Monday so I can start purchasing BTC before a Trump victory on Tuesday night. He very well could already have the deal spoken for given how active $MSTR is in the market and the large investor relations presence they likely have. Given all of his previously issued converts are above conversion price, this may also come with a debt to equity conversion of some of the existing issues to clear them off investors' books and make room for newly inked tranches.
On top of this $1-2B immediate convert deal, I would also re-up my $2B ATM program. This provides the flexibility to more programmatically and smoothly sell shares into the market akin to a TWAP which is obviously a different approach versus the one-time convert issuances.
All in all, the recent insatiable demand for $MSTR shares has provided Saylor with a lot of room to acquire more Bitcoin and I would not be surprised to see them buy another $4-5B by year-end. I am excited to see how it unfolds. Let's see.
"SNIPPING BITCOIN'S LEFT TAIL"...a short alpha-packed tale by Quinn Thompson of @lekker_cap.
Microstrategy holds a special place in my heart. Last year I became the resident $MSTR guy on Twitter which led many of you to press the 'follow' button and start listening to my market views. So let me provide some more Saylor alpha. Here's another good thread but if you search $MSTR tweets from me you'll find dozens. xitter.gq/qthomp/status/17400154…
Let's dive in. At the time of writing this, $MSTR's premium over BTC is approx. +50% since its last convert issuance in September. Apologies for the expletive, but this is fucking insane. There are a number of reasons why the premium has rapidly gone up, including the newly launched levered ETFs. The key takeaway here is that Saylor has a ton of room to issue more equity/converts to buy more Bitcoin.
But why hasn't he done it already? Earnings blackout. After the bell on October 30th, $MSTR releases Q3 earnings and in the following days its blackout period will end. This clears $MSTR to pick back up where it left off on capital markets transactions, namely ATM equity sales and convert issuance. My guess is by year end, $MSTR will get off another $2-3B of issuance and subsequent BTC purchases under current conditions.
Assuming you're with me thus far, the next point is critical for tactics. There is a very short window between the end of $MSTR earnings blackout and the election. We also know that the options market is implying a fair amount of volatility for BTC's price around the election, with many suspecting upwards of a +10% move under a Trump victory, and possibly a negative move under a Kamala win. If Saylor is looking to purchase multiple billions of BTC over the coming months, the election has massive implications. A +/- 10% swing in BTC prices could result in hundreds of millions of gain/loss on their purchase price, so if I am Microstrategy I am doing as much as humanly possible to develop a view on the election outcome.
This leaves us with the distribution of outcomes. If they believe Trump will win, they should jam as many BTC purchases in pre-election as possible. And if they believe Kamala will win, they may wait and buy the expected dip.
There's obviously tons of second and third order implications here resulting from the game theory that I will let you ponder. But now that I've led the horse to water, my work here is done and I will let you drink. Just don't forget the title as that's where all roads lead back to - Bitcoin's left tail is removed.

1/ A financial advisor asked me a great question over dinner last week:
Does the U.S. dollar need to collapse for bitcoin to hit $200,000?
The answer is "no." Here's why...

Couldn’t agree more - Love my wife but she does not understand position size versus capital at risk. If I buy an asset, she seems to think the capital 100% ceases to exist… “Not everything I buy is a shitcoin, babe”
Nice app you got there @finkmoney_
Honestly wondering if you guys have frequent brainstorming sessions before writing articles as they are always fantastic to read.
