Wouldn’t such a tax just disproportionately hit gaming and gamers? A lot of costs will get passed onto consumers.
France has approved a proposal for a new €0.055 tax per GB of internet traffic, and game downloads could be affected. If GTA 6 ends up being around 218 GB, downloading it could cost €12 in tax under the proposal. The tax could also affect other big game downloads and streaming services like Netflix and YouTube. However, it’s not law yet. The proposal still needs to pass through the remaining legislative process in France.

Games with paid loot boxes are being moved to PEGI 16 under updated European age-rating rules. Better consumer protection should tackle harmful business practices for everyone, not turn gaming into an ID checkpoint. pocketgamer.biz/games-with-l… #gaming #IDgate #lootboxes

The Online Safety Act hasn’t made children safer but it has caused some gaming services to close down. Time for a re-think on how we create a safer Internet without harming people’s ability to play games and participate
🚨NEW: The Online Safety Act has been a failure, according to a new report from Ofcom. Ofcom have found "no significant change" in children encountering harmful content since the law came into effect last July. This is despite the signifigant threats to free speech and privacy.

The way this game is exploiting player data for adverts is something else 👀
really feels like AI may be on the cusp of something now that's it's reverse engineering things.

Nexus Mods has issued an informal warning to the creator of the Mags Beep Bop Carter mod for Gears of War: E-Day after they shared alternative download links following the mod’s removal. The creator pointed people towards sites like Ayaka Mods and DEG Mods, where the mod is available. Nexus Mods says directing users to external sites hosting content that violates its rules, including content it cannot legally host itself, is prohibited. “There is a reason our filters catch those sites. Ayaka Mods hosts content that in suitable under our Terms of Service and illegal content under the UK Online Safety Act. We've issued an informal warning just to let you know to avoid this in future. It's not publicly recorded and we have no plans to take any further action.”

Jesus fucking Christ If you live in the EU and love videogames, please sign the petition here eci.ec.europa.eu/066/public/ It takes like 2 minutes and it might help not live in an even worse shithole that we're already in
We just can't catch a break, can we? The EU Kids Act is nightmare fuel, if you look beneath the honorable surface claim of "protecting kids online". The breakdown: youtube.com/watch?v=mQRcK9nY… #StopKillingGames #StopKillingTheInternet

I put together a video going over the most damning parts of the EU Kids Act. It would make playing unsupported games online in the EU illegal, no joke. This is way bigger than SKG, most of the industry seems to be sleeping on this. youtube.com/watch?v=mQRcK9nY…

Why do politicians seem to hate people being able to play and enjoy games? This excellent video by Ross breaks down why the EU’s Kids Act is just awful. Children do actually need play and games as well to have a happy life. youtube.com/watch?v=mQRcK9nY… #Stopkillinginternet

All hands on deck! This is the biggest threat to Stop Killing Games yet! The EU #KidsAct could end #StopKillingGames by collapsing the EU gaming market and making private and community servers illegal!: youtu.be/mQRcK9nYg9g "The best thing you can do is spread the word...The people who write this crap do not like it when the public at large knows what they're trying to do to you" - @accursedfarms Don't just take our word for it, here's the EU Kids Act to see for yourself.
