Here we are again, talking about consent, personal boundaries, and safety at events in cryptoart community. And I find something deeply troubling about the way these conversations unfold. A woman speaks up about someone crossing her boundaries, entering her room, or ignoring her refusal, and suddenly the conversation shifts from what she experienced to whether she can produce enough public evidence to satisfy everyone else. As if everything that happens behind closed doors comes with witnesses and documentation. Meanwhile, private conversations are full of people saying they’ve heard similar stories before. But the moment someone speaks publicly, the same community starts demanding proof, calling it gossip, or worrying about reputational damage. We need to ask ourselves who benefits from that silence. Because when protecting the reputation of a community becomes more important than taking concerns about personal safety seriously, something is fundamentally wrong. Listening to women doesn’t mean abandoning fairness or automatically declaring anyone guilty. It means acknowledging that allegations deserve to be taken seriously, that people deserve to be heard, and that public social media trials should not be the price of speaking up. If this community genuinely cares about consent and safety, those principles must apply to everyone, regardless of their influence, connections, or status. Otherwise, they’re just words we repeat until someone important makes them inconvenient.
