βFrom the fucking genius that brought you Haley Stevens.β
Jon Stewart and his weekly podcast team called for Democrats to replace Chuck Schumer as Senate majority leader, with help from a new George Clooney op-ed demanding his resignation, if needed.
Stewart noted that Schumer fought against many of the Democrats who won this week.

Here's a better version. Media matters confused Graham Platner and Lindsey Graham with Darlene Graham, who was barely talked about. They also left off some of the biggest names.

Alex Pearlman: Abdul is why Annie Andrews won, because they focused so much energy up there that they didn't even notice that Lindsey Graham's sister didn't have the gas.
That's why so many people are really mad about Florida because look at what Angie Nixon did with nothing.

You should check out the video by Lonerbox where he debunks every one of βProfessorβ Daveβs claims. I would say you should watch the debate they had, but βProfessorβ Dave ran away from that bc he knows heβs a misinformed retard on the I/P situation.

WHERE WAS THE MONEY FOR ANGIE NIXON?
Now that the midterms are over, let me correct the record.Β
-I wasn't handpicked by Chuck Schumer. I didn't even talk to the man until after I announced.Β
Iβm not sure exactly what a corporate or establishment Dem is, but Iβm pretty sure itβs not a first-time candidate or a career military guy. Call me a moderate, Iβll take it. I always think big, but I donβt let idealism get in the way of getting a job done. Iβm practical and would take Medikids and lower age limits for Medicare to expand healthcare and drive down costs over nothing at all. In 2028 after a Dem trifecta, I expect bold moves.
-Be an asshole and call me a carpetbagger! So I moved here four years ago, AFTER SERVING IN THE FOR 21 years. I'm here with my family, raising my daughter, and caring for my elderly parents in SoFlo. I decided to run because it was clear that the midterms would trigger a Blue Tsunami, because Trump sucks.Β And I saw a path to win the general election. I jumped-in to help. Call it a call to serve. Same one from a lifetime of service.
Let's just say I was very skeptical, because hey its Florida, but I wasn't going to sit on my ass when the stakes were so high.
No I didnβt move to Florida to run for Senate! π
-I have some regrets, but even in losing, I delivered 1.5M to Florida candidates and to races that would have otherwise been left short-changed. I feel that in some small way I pitched in to help break the super majorities in the Florida House and Senate.
-I invested 3M in total to campaigns and parties around the country including Iowa, Ohio, Alaska, etc., including in Kansas and South Carolina when few were looking there.
-I wish I had chosen to outspend Angie 20, 10, or even 5 to 1 on the primary. I only spend 2:1 on the primary. Obviously a HUGE mistake. I was too focused on defeating Moody and building real democratic power.
-Angie was tireless in making her case to primary voters, while I was trying to connect with potential crossover voters without first securing my base.Β
-I neglected to heed the old maxim always fight and finish the battle in front of you.
-I never took a penny from AIPAC. Those claiming otherwise, when they knew better, were playing to the old Jewish dual allegiance troupe.

This is Neera Tanden in April saying it'd be irresponsible not to support the #1 recipient of corporate cash in CA, Jasmeen Bains, because Randy Villegas couldn't win.
Randy beat the Republican incumbent by a two-to-one margin. He literally got twice as many votes as Valadao.

I literally have tears rolling down my face. America just elected a new senator who a few years ago was waiving a Hamas headband, another senator who wonβt condemn the Muslim brotherhood and whose father-in-law declared that America will be destroyed and the Jews annihilated. And New Yorkβs Mayor has a wife who celebrated the Oct 7 massacre.
America just entered a really dark chapter.
Randy Villegas overcame huge spending from the Dem establishment and won the primary anyway. Washington Dems warned the left had thrown the seat away. Instead he blew out Valadao, significantly overperformed.

the plot in this tweet takes the state swings in other offices into account. you can just grab the results and run (house candidate vote - harris vote) yourself and group by caucus membership.
exact effect size depends on controls and on whether you look at the effect sizes probabilistically or not. this plot bootstraps coefficients.
the broader point I'm trying to make is that the DSA didn't underperform the average Democrat, regardless of what was implied by the viral plots like these shared in 2025 that ignore uncertainty and out-of-sample accuracy.
if we are living in a world where both the DSA and blue dogs overperform, that is a very different world than the one that people on this site are constantly asserting exists while ignoring limits of their analysis.
i am begging people to embrace uncertainty in how voters evaluate candidates

NEW: Republican sources in Tennessee tell me President Trump is βencouragingβ Governor-elect Marsha Blackburn to appoint Pete Hegseth to her U.S. Senate seat.
Blackburn could resign imminently.
That would let outgoing Governor Bill Lee name Hegseth quickly and give Trump time to get a new Pentagon chief confirmed during the lame-duck session.

Jon Stewart on Chuck Schumer: βSomeone has to meet this moment. You have an opportunity to actually govern. One of the first things you need to do is remove that system of seniority from Democratic politics. Itβs a bullshit system and it needs to go. Chuck Schumer fought tooth and nail against half of these fucking people. He does not understand the urgency of the moment and what the future demandsβ
Great idea.
On behalf of third-way moderates I just want to once again thank the IRGC for fomenting regime change in the USA!

we should accept this. if "we need to go after the billionaires" is the new moderate, that's a move in the right direction

π΅πΈ Israeli settlers seize Palestinian homes near Jericho, say they are βdismantling the Oslo Accordsβ
Around 30 Israeli settlers, some of whom were armed, took over eight homes in Ein Al-Duyuk Al-Tahta on the outskirts of Jericho in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday.
Activists warned that settlers could be reproducing the situation in Hebron, where armed Israeli settlers live in enclaves inside the Palestinian city, contributing to displacement and severe restrictions on Palestinian freedom of mobility
π΄ The operation near Jericho was organized by the Nachala settlement movement, which claims to have secretly purchased the properties.
π΄ Sixty-five Palestinian residents fled after settlers attacked them with stones, an activist told the Times of Israel. Residents said that Israeli forces subsequently blocked access to the area, leaving homeowners afraid to return.
π΄ Yisrael Gantz, head of the West Bank settler council, framed the move as an effort to dismantle the Oslo Accords, declaring: βToday we begin reversing the trend, dismantling the Oslo Accords through actions, house by house, family by family.β
π΄ Palestinian National Council Speaker Rawhi Fattouh condemned the takeover as βorganized terrorismβ carried out under Israeli government protection, charging Israel of encouraging settlement expansion and forced displacement.

No Democrat in Congress should vote to support a single dollar for this illegal, inhumane, insane war. Period.
There's a behind-the-scenes debate going on among civil socity/NGO/antiwar groups in DC over how hard to push to end Trump's war immediately. One letter currently circulating -- backed by Win Without War, MoveOn, NIAC, Indivisible, and J Street -- had included a line that set off alarm bells with groups that want to take a hard line against the war. It read:
βWe, the XX undersigned civil society organizations, urge you to respond to this mandate by voting down any defense authorization or defense appropriations bills that would continue funding this disastrous war or increase Pentagon funding beyond the already outrageous $1 trillion that the White House pushed through Congress last year...If Trump continues the war into the new year, we further urge returning members to prioritize and pass legislation expressly defunding this war early in the new Congress.β
The problem there is the "if Trump continues the war." Opponents of that language argued there was no reason to give Trump November and December to wage war, and it should be forced to an end now.
Also, the government won't be funded by a defense appropriation bill, but by a CR that has to pass on or before Dec. 11.
Sen. Chris @VanHollenForMD and @RoKhanna have said the fight should be had in the CR.
After I reached out for comment, I was told that that particular line is being stripped out of the letter. Several of the signatories said they support pushing hard now to end the war, not waiting until January. NIAC spokesman Ryan Costello said NIAC interprets "defense appropriations bills" to include the CR.
"We want immediate action to end this war. Anything less is unacceptable," Costello said.
Matt Duss, executive director of CIPA, one of the signatories, emphasized his support for the more aggressive approach proposed by Van Hollen. βCongress needs to use every tool it has right now to stop this war,β he said. βWe want everyone to be going all the way.β
