Gears of War: E-Day is out and here's a compilation of my work on it.
A huge thank you to my colleagues at Tuatara and The Coalition. I’m incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside you all on such an amazing game.

I can finally share some of the work I've done for Gears of War: E-Day alongside the super-talented team Mood Visuals. It was an incredible opportunity to contribute to one of the biggest IPs ever. For starters - Enemy Exfil Dom skin, Scorched Rusher and Locust Drone helmet.

This morning we've deployed a small patch for E-Day. The update includes a fix for an exploit that allowed players to disable Smoke Grenade effects, fixes for multiple movement-related crashes and numerous improvements to stability and optimization across PC, XBOX and handhelds.
We've also fixed an issue in Horde Siege where the death summary could display incorrect damage taken and weapon information.

One of the coolest things in E-Day! Biley Cyrus skeleton reveal! @GearsofWar I tip my hat to thee.

Was a lot of fun weaving and expanding on the old Tyran Fairy Tales of Romily and The Boogeyman. Lots of cool details all connected from different points of the series; games, comics, novels, even the original Gears 1 trailer if you caught the reference in the book collectable.

Gears of War: E-Day has hit the top of the Xbox US and UK store charts and is the second-largest Xbox launch of 2026, surpassing Halo: Campaign Evolved (but falling behind Forza Horizon 6).
Seems like it's really scratching that Gears itch.

It's time to lock-in, Gears. Ranked Versus is available now in E-Day.
Gather your squad, choose from four playlists - Demolition, Crucible, Conquest, and Team Deathmatch, and grind your Rank for exclusive rewards.
Later this week, we're releasing a patch to improve stability and address known issues across the game. We'll share full details of everything we've fixed in patch notes upon release.

Excited to finally share Part 1 of my lighting work on Gears of War: E-Day!
Into the Tunnels: We wanted these underground spaces to feel dark, oppressive, and heavy with atmospheric depth.
Built in #UE5 leveraging Megalights, Lumen, and my manually crafted game-wide lens flares.

In Gears 5 we never could afford to pay for a directional moonlight given all the local shadow casting light sources at night taking all the GPU bandwidth.
It was so liberating on E-Day to have hundreds of local shadow casters at night AND a super nice shadow casting moonlight.
As someone who writes software, the part of Gears of War: E-Day that broke my brain isn't the gore. It's the lighting.
The Coalition and Epic pushed UE5's ray-traced MegaLights so far that thousands of shadow-casting lights run on a 2020 Xbox Series X. Plain old AMD RDNA 2.
Best-looking game of this generation.
