This was the first time DFINITY attended an AI event, but it's just the start. Thank you to the organizers for a great time. I explained the way that the Internet Computer | ICP now provides the ultimate agentic infrastructure, and it was tremendously well received, with some stunning follow-ups (more details in time). At the end my keynote, I gave out an email where you can apply for cloud engine coupons — and we're already seeing a steady stream of applications from that audience. The Internet Computer remains the first network creating genuine impact in the mainstream world, and the potential is unlimited.

Dominic goes on to touch on the subject of AI.
Making the point that AI-powered hackers are making traditional compute infrastructure increasingly insecure, and that tamperproof software helps fix that.
He added that it matters when AI builds and updates services, which it can do at the speed of conversation.
On stacks that are not tamperproof, he said, security and sysadmin teams have to stay in the loop, and that slows production down a lot.

In the same article @PierreSamaties follows up to say:
Cloud engines are created from open source technology, free of hidden foreign backdoors and kill switches, and engines host tamperproof apps that cannot be hacked into, which is a game-changer for large and developing countries alike.
In his words, anything is possible.

In the report, Dominic and his team describe cloud engines as an open evolution of cloud for an era in which enterprises want sovereignty and platforms that play better with AI.
Dominic lays out his vision plainly for cloud engines, explaining how an enterprise can choose the compute nodes behind its own cloud, from independent data center hardware, virtual nodes on hyperscaler clouds, and on-prem machines.
Check out the article on pages 45 - 48.

Nine in ten organizations use AI, and fewer than half have scaled it.
That's according to the State of AI 2026 report. Its central findings, and its conclusion puts the next stage in infrastructure:
- Capital
- Compute
- Energy
- and Governance.

DFINITY was in attendance at the Dubai AI Festival, over the last two days.
@dominic_w presented 'Sovereign Cloud for the AI Era', and the festival's official report was published, The State of AI 2026, which came out with DFINITY's participation.
The report includes an article on Dominic and the Internet Computer's cloud engines.
Here's our round up of the last two days from @DubaiAIFest.

Firstly, there were two patents on the algorithm they took, one was issued *beginning* of this year. We want license fees at the least. Sorry to those that liked my previous post, I reworded this to be more precise. If they knew about the patent applications, then license fees could be recoverable from the beginning of their use of the proprietary tech (~2+ years) not from earlier this year.
There are some things that point in that direction in my view, e.g. 1) GitHub posts like this, note what's in the quotes, which I read like pre-emptive non-infringement positioning github.com/near/mpc_old/pull… (the algo of course re-uses the invention with a minor tweak that make it less secure), and 2) they had hired a senior DFINITY engineering manager in April 2022, who I feel would have known full well about DFINITY efforts to patent major works. We need that Google doc referenced by that GitHub pull request; NEAR if you're reading this, deleting evidence won't be helpful, maybe you'd like to voluntarily share this.
Secondly, it looks to us like their Confidential Key Derivation is basically derived from the vetKeys paper, and maybe they looked at our Rust implementation too. That wasn't patented, but completely wrong to go around passing off hard and substantial work by very serious cryptographers as your own, and also completely ridiculous. I'm sure Ilia is a more serious guy than that. We are not anti-NEAR, but this is obviously too much and has to be addressed. Note as well that passing off a competitor's academic work as your own to gain an advantage also transgresses various other laws around the world. But anyway, if this is what has happened, I'm sure Ilia, as a supporter of open source, will want proper credits and references to be added, and for their CKD article to explain where the math came from.
We're busy but will be contacting them, first to try and resolve this amicably. Meanwhile, they also need to think hard about who they choose as friends. Some of the people that came after us for them are absolutely freaky and the worst web3 has to offer. Notably, we've heard no denial, nor apology.

JUST IN: Pakistan and DFINITY discuss sovereign AI infrastructure powered by Internet Computer ($ICP)
Pakistan’s Digital Authority met with DFINITY executives in Dubai to explore an AI factory for public-sector software and further development of the PDA Cloud Engine, building on earlier collaboration around Internet Computer infrastructure.

🚨HUGE FOR $ICP: DFINITY is in HIGH-LEVEL talks with Pakistan's Digital Authority to build a sovereign AI Factory for government technology!
Internet Computer and @dfinity founder Dominic Williams met with senior officials to discuss developing AI-powered government applications and national digital infrastructure.
This follows their earlier MoU, with Pakistan's sovereign cloud model also gaining UNDP recognition!
From AI to government infrastructure, ICP is positioning itself for adoption on a NATIONAL scale!

Welcome to Dubai! Would like to discuss ICP sovereign applications in the region with you tomorrow during the event…DM me to arrange
DFINITY founder Dominic Williams says Internet Computer cloud engines give enterprises "complete freedom from vendor and location lock-in."
DFINITY says it has spent more than $500M building the network, with Pakistan the first nation state deploying it and UNDP piloting it in its country offices.
@dfinity
The Gap between Bitcoin and ICP is too wide...
Per @Chainspect, $BTC averages $0.263 per transaction, while @dfinity's $ICP averages $0.0000637, a 4,129x difference.
As $BTC and $ETH keep high fees to preserve scarce blockspace, other compute-and-throughput chains have reduced transaction fees to a fraction of a cent.
