If you are not willing to sacrifice justice and national self-determination on the altar of “peace”, then shut the fuck up about how the Ukraine invasion is NATO’s fault.
If you are, I commend the forthrightness of your cowardice. Слава Україні! Героям слава!
Your AI vision cars struggled to detect parked fire trucks. How in the name of God are you tracking and engaging stealth aircraft?
Replying to @Indian_Bronson
These planes are cool, but extremely vulnerable to AI-guided missiles that use pure vision, as they are obviously not invisible
It’s difficult to overstate how wrong this is, so I’m forced to resort to GIFs. Because this isn’t how any of this works, at all.
Replying to @noahroth @brianoflondon
It is laughably easy to take down fighter jets. “Stealth” means nothing if you use elementary AI with low light sensitivity cameras. They aren’t invisible.
This was from X-Men: First Class, and outward resemblance not withstanding, absolutely nothing like either the A-12 or the SR-71
Rare bad take here. SEAWOLF was wildly expensive (if wildly capable), but cost was not the only driver for either CENTURION or any of the VA Blocks. Blocks III and V each by themselves prove this point, V in particular.

Slowly moving over to the other place. Find me there, though I’m probably not abandoning here entirely

I need this on a plaque for my office

Point of order, they don’t, and the ones that do either can’t do shit or are basically what we have anyway.
Sidebar: the number of blue check bots quoting this with the exact same verbiage is hilarious.

Admiral: "They're untested. The maintenance alone..."
Palmer: "Analyst, why do you like them?"
Analyst: "Because they survive first contact, sir."
Palmer: "Exactly. Instead of building another $13B target, we could build presence and lethality across thousands of platforms."

How’s my mood this morning? Discovering that I did in fact get my own into my pocket was a significant boost. Draw your own conclusions.
I didn’t decide it in advance but this is where I’ve landed. For the sake of my son and his generation, I’m holding out hope the American project survives in a meaningful way, and since I don’t think I can change that, I will instead continue to help make sure that…

I decided well in advance that if Trump legit won, I would not quit -- were I within a year or two of retirement maybe different, but I'm not -- but I also will have my limits. And I'll put that oath ahead of keeping the job
This describes far more of the GAO’s work than most people realize, in part because the GAO has few SMEs to do this analysis and relies on generalists without sufficient background knowledge. But you’d only know that usually after either becoming or knowing a SME.

Imagine thinking that a relevant statistic for F-35 MC rates was how much money the Navy, the Marines, and *checks notes, squints* the Army spent on aircraft O&M.
If ignorance is bliss, this would be cloud 9.
Replying to @ElbridgeColby
This isn’t a problem that can be fixed just by more money.
“That’s despite the Army, Navy and Marine Corps spending $12 billion, or about 21%, of $57.2 billion for aircraft operations and maintenance appropriated by Congress during that time.” 3/
Meh why not

And people wonder why I view India as the next revanchist adversary the U.S. must face after/with China

CIWS is the strongest argument for a fully autonomous weapon, but it still has a manual mode, and is reacting based on human-set parameters. A computer does not decide what characteristics makes a threat, only whether a given contact meets them.
Replying to @margauxmaccoll
CIWS and a wide variety of anti-rad, anti-ship, and anti-submarine weapons to start. Your updated language on TechCrunch is still wrong.
I doubt you can identify a single US lawmaker who shares your view on landmines, much less "most". You are wrong on your own.
AEGIS in fully automatic mode is the same (and also has degrees of manual mode)pppp. Conversely ARMs and ASW torpedoes are both launched on human command, and the computer might (emphasis might) have preset parameters to disengage/self-destruct.
How far “off the loop” is the human on the loop? In other words how early in the mission planning process are engage parameters defined and how hard should we let it be for a human to override a computer’s decision. And that’s not a debate I see as much of as I’d like.
