WE NEED TO INVESTIGATE THE @FBI Maria Farmer says she has waited three decades for the FBI to answer for a phone call it hung up on in 1996. In August of that year, Farmer reported to both the New York Police Department and the FBI that Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell had s*xually ass*ulted her, and that they were running a wider child s*x trafficking operation. According to her account and subsequent court filings, agents cut her off mid-sentence. Farmer has said that when she was “ignored and hung up on by the FBI in 1996,” her world turned upside down, and that she faced d*ath threats and ridicule from powerful people afterward. She filed a lawsuit against the federal government in May 2025, arguing the 1996 report gave the FBI actual knowledge of crimes against children that it was legally obligated to investigate and did not. The suit contends that failure allowed Epstein to continue ab*sing girls and young women for nearly 25 more years, until his arrest in 2019. Farmer is not alone in the litigation. A separate suit filed on behalf of twelve Jane Does makes similar claims, alleging the FBI “failed to interview the victims, failed to investigate the crimes” despite credible tips received between 1996 and 2006. The Department of Justice’s Office of Professional Responsibility has previously concluded that a federal prosecutor who later struck a lenient 2008 plea deal with Epstein showed “poor judgment.” The FBI has not publicly detailed what became of Farmer’s original 1996 report. Her case, and the related Jane Doe suits, remain pending against the federal government. @FBIDirectorKash
