The last American charged with treason was Adam Gadahn in 2006 for al-Qaeda propaganda videos. He was never tried and died in a 2015 drone strike.
The last conviction was Tomoya Kawakita in 1952 for abusing US POWs in Japan. He received a death sentence, later commuted to life by Eisenhower, then deported.
The last execution for treason was William Bruce Mumford in 1862, hanged in New Orleans for tearing down a US flag.
