Hear Paul's plea for our churches to be unlocked during the day. Being able to just step inside a church was the beginning of Paul's journey to becoming a Catholic. #UnlockChurches

Paul says, when serving at Mass, 'We're coming to give Him honour and glory and to bring people together. And this is all part of our faith experience; this shared faith experience that we can celebrate.'

Paul learned to join in the morning prayer of the church when he first walked into a Catholic church. 'I've had a great commitment to the Office of the Church. Again, I don't know where that came from. No one's ever sat me down and taught it me.'

Congratulations to William Mawdsley (93) who has been awarded the Archdiocesan Medal for outstanding service to the Church.
He has been an altar server for an incredible 80 years!
Archbishop Cushley celebrated Mass at St John's Church in Corstorphine on Saturday and awarded the medal to William, known as Bill. And today, on the Feast of the Holy Family, William and Margaret celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary!
He continues to serve the church as an altar server and acolyte. Thank you for dedicated service to the Church.

As we remember Saint Stephen, the first Martyr, we seek his intercession for strengthening our faith and supporting the communities that suffer most for their Christian witness. May his example of humility, courage and forgiveness accompany those who, in situations of conflict, are committed to promoting dialogue, reconciliation and peace.

1/2🧵How blessed are we as a parish to have 70 Altar Servers!
Praise God for their devotion and ministry amongst us.
Today nearly 50 of them gathered to celebrate their Patron’s Feast Day and welcome into the Guild new members.

A great privilege to also give Mary and Joan their silver medals for having served over ten years each.
We all then retired to the hall for the traditional Servers’ Full English Breakfast.
Thanks to the team who organise this in appreciation of the Servers each year.

By understanding the depth of their liturgical role and serving with devotion, servers are led to a "deepening response to their vocation in life". Happy St Stephen's Day to all our Altar Servers! Keep serving in whatever way the Lord calls you.
