Today, @SecKennedy visited the Greater Mount Vernon Community Head Start in Gum Springs, VA. Nutrition services have been a hallmark of the Head Start program since its inception. HHS is excited to continue to build on this legacy. Healthy eating is critical for children’s brain development, immune health, and overall growth.

.@SecKennedy today visited Louisa County High School in Mineral, Virginia with @GovernorVA Youngkin. They engaged with students and staff to witness the success and importance of bell-to-bell cell-phone free education. SAMHSA has been working to improve our understanding of the impact of cell phones and social media use on young people and leveraging @HHSgov grant funding and technical assistance to help support state, community, and school efforts to improve mental health and wellbeing.

I so enjoyed my meeting with tribal leaders and elders from my advisory committee. Past administrations have treated @IHSgov as a red-headed stepchild. This administration will make Indian Country a priority.

Breathing in wildfire smoke can have immediate health effects & cause illness or worsen existing health conditions. For your safety, follow instructions from local authorities. If you are told to evacuate, evacuate. If you are told to stay indoors, stay indoors.
Who’s most affected by poor air quality? People who have: asthma, heart disease, and COPD (a long-term lung disease). Four people stand together. One uses an inhaler, one uses an oxygen tank. In the background, a city skyline is seen through a haze.
