This taxpayer-funded ad campaign is completely unacceptable. President Trump and Republicans in Congress told the American people they needed this money to keep them safe. Instead, the President is using these funds to boost his agenda ahead of the midterm elections. It’s not the first time we’ve seen DHS misuse funds for self-serving commercials, and it has to stop. Americans deserve a Department of Homeland Security that is working to protect our nation – not promote the President and his political allies.

I led nearly three dozen of my colleagues last week calling on Secretary Mullin to drop these requirements, and to halt DHS’s election interference efforts. The court did the right thing, but this clearly shouldn’t have become policy in the first place. Now, FEMA needs to immediately release this funding to help keep communities safe.

The Supreme Court upheld the law and denied the Trump Administration’s demands to rewrite the rules for absentee ballots just weeks before the election. As I have repeatedly said, the Postal Service does not administer elections and they have no legal authority to issue this rule. I will continue the fight to protect access to the ballot box.

ICE must be held to the same standard as our local law enforcement. Unfortunately, DHS has not shared any corrective actions that have been taken related to the killings of Mr. Pretti and Ms. Good. Instead, we have seen the agency double down on violent tactics from Maine to Texas, resulting in more people being killed.

The Trump Administration’s disregard for PFAS contamination is a danger to our environment and public health. We need to better protect Americans from these toxic chemicals. I’m continuing to fight back against Trump’s EPA for ignoring PFAS safety in our country.

Millions of Americans have voted by mail, including President Trump. His fearmongering is an attempt to undermine the upcoming elections because he knows his policies have hurt Americans and he’s worried about the results.

Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service consistently overstated its savings, taking credit for lease cancellations initiated before the group existed, a government watchdog found. DOGE also claimed contracts were terminated that had not been, the report said. wapo.st/4wEb8Wt

New: USPS has a 9-seat board. Trump has nominated 4 Republicans to fill vacancies. By law, only 5 can be the same party. @SenGaryPeters is asking for the noms to be paused until Trump puts forward a Dem. Something to watch as Trump seeks to leverage USPS for voting crackdown.

Senate Republicans just rubber-stamped a bill that gives ICE and CBP $70 billion without requiring any new guardrails or meaningful reforms. At a time when Americans are struggling with rising costs from the President’s war in Iran, spending billions more taxpayer dollars on President Trump's extreme immigration enforcement agenda makes no sense. This is simply not a responsible way to govern.   My Democratic colleagues and I fought to include measures to improve transparency, strengthen accountability, and help ensure DHS personnel are held to the same standards as our local law enforcement officers. Instead, Senate Republicans side-stepped the bipartisan appropriations process, blocking every commonsense reform we proposed, and voting to keep the President’s $1.7 billion slush fund for rioters who attacked law enforcement in place. Congress should do its job to act as a check on this Administration. Unfortunately, Senate Republicans will only cower to President Trump’s demands.    I voted against this partisan spending legislation and will continue to work with my colleagues to fight rein in ICE and this Administration’s reckless policies.

PETERS: Yes or no, do you think it's right for a president to approve disaster aid based on whether a state voted for him instead of the amount of damage in the state? This chart behind me is pretty dramatic MARKWAYNE MULLIN: That's not my experience of the president PETERS: This chart speaks volumes

Hours before the Iran war stared, more than 150 Polymarket accounts placed bets predicting a U.S. strike. One day before the U.S. took military action in Venezuela, a trader placed bets that made him over $400,000. Just nine Polymarket accounts have made over $2.4 million by betting on military operations with a 98 percent success rate. This morning in the Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee, I introduced an amendment that would curb insider trading by any U.S. government official on prediction markets.

Republicans are seemingly fine giving payouts to convicted child predators. During today’s markup they blocked my proposal to prevent the Jan. 6 slush fund from going to insurrectionists who sexually abused children after being pardoned by Trump.

I offered an amendment to provide more protection to places of worship like the Islamic Center that was viciously, tragically attacked. Republicans resoundingly rejected it. I will continue to fight for additional Nonprofit Security Grant funding.

Trump is creating a nearly $2 billion slush fund with YOUR tax dollars to pay off his insurrectionist allies. This is where your money is actually going. I pushed to stop it. Republicans voted to allow it to happen. Shameful.

As Americans struggle with the highest inflation in years and gas prices approach $5 a gallon because of President Trump’s illegal war with Iran, Congressional Republicans are pushing through a partisan slush fund for the President’s whims – including giving him $1 billion in taxpayer money for an opulent White House ballroom. During a committee hearing this morning to debate funding for ICE, I put forward an amendment to ban any taxpayer money for new detention facilities, like the one in Romulus, MI, that are warehouses and never built to detain human beings. The facility in Romulus should not move forward. All of my Republican colleagues opposed it.
