Fascinating article demonstrating humans’ influence on Anna’s #hummingbird #adaptation & #evolution!
Evolution doesn’t always take thousands or millions of years. Sometimes it happens right before our eyes.
Such is the case with the Anna’s hummingbird, a species that has undergone a dramatic transformation in just a few generations, all thanks to the advent of hummingbird feeders.

For #conservation efforts to succeed, it’s vital that we consider the human dimension.
To boost struggling wildlife populations, mgrs often move wildlife from more abundant populations to areas where they are in trouble. Some efforts are more successful than others & the reason may have more to do with humans than wildlife @Mitch_Serota hubs.li/Q01W3KRd0
Exciting news for #bird #conservation — this paper demonstrates one species’ ability to #adapt to a changing climate at the genetic level in a relatively short period of time on the #evolutionary scale
Back to the future: Willow Flycatcher modern and museum samples indicate potential climate adaptations. New from our lab! @NatureComms
