'Operation Ark is a go, all the flights and issues have been approved...but the question is actually getting to the airport.' Wildlife campaigner Dominic Dyer says despite approval for Pen Farthing and hundreds of animals to be rescued from Afghanistan, problems remain.

"I will be in that airport with my staff & with my animals. I just need my aircraft to be able to land." The brilliant @PenFarthing responds to apparent U-turn by @BWallaceMP & @DefenceHQ, who now appear to be refusing to help @Nowzad escape: youtu.be/CYSh2TMzVJo #OperationArk

My wife is at the North gate of Kabul airport being crushed in the stampede to get with my 34 week pregnant country manager. The UK military will not come out to rescue them. @BorisJohnson @DominicRaab anything happens I will hold you personally responsible @BBCBreaking @SkyNews

A moral obligation to scan is not enough. The obligation must be a legal one. A simple, non-invasive procedure could see many dogs returned to their lawful homes.

If only all vets did, I might be able to spend my last few years with my Mum and my best friend Wenna

So happy Fern is finally home, where she belongs! I believe all vets should routinely scan dogs they've not seen before & check their chip details match those given to the practice. What's the point having compulsory chipping if we don't use it to reunite lost/stolen dogs? 🐶

My vet told me if Rags was sittings under her missing poster in the waiting room, he still wouldn’t scan and check her microchip registration! Rags microchip is my only hope of seeing her again 💔 Pls sign #FernsLaw petition chng.it/hxW952ry

@VetsGetScanning are calling for a change to our microchip laws. If a #dog is stolen & sold on its currently not law for it to be scanned the 1st time it sees a vet, preventing it being reunited with a distraught family. PLS SIGN #FernsLaw #CheckTheChip 🐾 bit.ly/FernsLaw – at Stockport, England

Read this comment, and sign the #FernsLaw petition. The government have decided dogs have to be micro chipped which is pretty pointless if vets and councils don’t have to scan! Makes it a joke really!!! Make it law! chng.it/KFsPKwB7
