If anxiety is the dizziness of freedom Then to think without acting Is to live in a cage built of your own mind Where thoughts, divorced from reality, keep you trapped in an endless loop. A single step clears more fog Than a thousand thoughts.

My boda guy, Isma, decided to level up his hustle by getting a merchant code for his customers. I noticed it this morning after he dropped me off for the day’s engagement. He told me he finds it very convenient, especially when customers want to make payments without necessarily having to deal with cash. And he’s not stopping there. He’s planning to get an MTN merchant code as well, because many of his customers have already started asking for one. Small changes, but this is how businesses keep evolving with the needs of their customers.

Dear Gen Z lawyers, here’s a hard pill to swallow: soft skills matter, and they’ll take you further than even your law degree. Within Uganda’s legal community, where trust is constantly tested, your #integrity is your greatest currency. How you carry yourself, how you treat clients, and how you handle temptation in the grey areas of practice will define your #career more than any title ever could. Soft skills like communication, empathy, #teamwork, and self-awareness don’t just make you likeable, they make you effective. The law is about people, and people remember how you made them feel, not how many sections you quoted. So as you rise, protect your integrity fiercely. Build your technical skills, but pair them with character.

Operating in Africa taught me to build for viability under constraint. Operating in the US is teaching me to build for scale amid uncertainty. Both matter & energize me. They just demand * very* different muscles & flexing that over the summer has been interesting

A few weeks ago, I stepped down from leadership at @Xente. Why? Because I've seen something coming — and I believe it's bigger than anything we've seen before. I've had the privilege of living through major technology shifts. Working with MTN, I had a front-row seat to see how mobile phones and the internet transformed how we connect. Then as an entrepreneur, I built Intelworld and @Xente — both rode the wave of mobile money and fintech to change how businesses move money. We built good companies. But not quite the companies we dreamed of building. You know why? Because business should be about one thing: delivering exceptional products and unforgettable customer experiences. That's our best work. Instead, we drowned in busywork. Late nights in spreadsheets. Wrestling with URA. Meetings about meetings. Reports (daily, monthly, weekly , quarterly, annual ….) Lots of email, investor pitches, and then... blank. Chasing payments. Reconciliatiooooon. Mining data for basic insights. Call me next week — no, next month — how about never? Building dashboards that created more complexity, not less. While we were buried in busywork, our customers got frustrated and teams got burnt out. We built more dashboards, added more SOPs, and hired more people, thinking it would help. It didn't. We just created more busywork. The grind stole our focus from what matters: creating products customers love and experiences they'll never forget. But AI — what a time to be alive. It doesn't transform anything. It deletes. It deletes the busywork that's been stealing you and your business's soul. Think about that. Every other technology gave us new ways to do things. AI gives us a way to stop doing things. To stop doing everything that isn't our best work. For decades, we've accepted that business means grinding. It's not. It never was. When you delete the busywork, something magical happens: your best work becomes your only work. Imagine running a business by simply stating what you need. The busywork vanishes. Your entire focus returns to customers, to innovation, to growth. No dashboards. No grind. Just pure focus on delivering exceptional products and customer experiences. That's why I'm building @tymshq — to give businesses, their teams, and customers their focus back. If you're not doing busywork, you're doing your best work. Join us at @tymshq .
