very weird thing happening rn technical people are sad, they think their skills are now useless non-technical people are desperately wishing they were more technical so they could use agents better

Nobody warns vibe coders about this part. You can ship an app in a weekend. You can also break 6 laws in that same weekend without knowing it. Here's what to check before you launch: 1.) Kids If signup doesn't ask for age and a child under 13 joins, COPPA fines can reach $53K per child. 2.) Fonts Loading Google Fonts from Google's servers sends visitor IPs to Google. A Munich court ordered a site to pay one visitor €100 for this under GDPR. 3.) Session replay Recording what users type without consent can count as wiretapping under California's CIPA, at up to $5K per violation. 4.) Launch emails No unsubscribe link or postal address breaks CAN-SPAM, at up to $53K per email. 5.) Subscriptions If renewal terms aren't right next to the button, California can treat renewals as unconditional gifts you have to refund. 6.) User uploads Without a registered DMCA agent, which costs $6, you lose safe harbor. Statutory damages can reach $150K per willfully infringed work. None of these cost much to fix. All of them cost a lot to ignore. Paste this into Claude before launch: "Check my app for: missing age gate, externally loaded fonts, session replay without consent, marketing emails without unsubscribe and address, renewal terms not beside the subscribe button and no DMCA agent. Fix what you can and list what I need to do myself." Not legal advice. Talk to a lawyer for your situation.

I'm starting to sense a divide in the tech industry: - People thriving on autonomy who are reinventing how they work and what tools they use with AI: LOTS of work, but they're enjoying it and getting very efficient - People used to being mentored / trained / or simply told what to do and how. Frustrated with the lack of guidance from management on what to do with AI; also frustrated by seeing some of their peers thriving; increasingly bitter about AI and the state of the industry, as a whole Neither group seems to be aware that there's another group, or have empathy for the other group

Never let Claude run wild on the privacy policy or legal pages on your website. Opus 5.5, and other Claude models in general, are so knee deep into moral policing it can genuinely land you in hot water. > it will get way too specific about how your work happens internally > it will add promises and guarantees you didn’t want enforced > it went as far as adding my name in the policy page > it listed out all the third party tools that we have integrated too, basically showing our entire stack It is built to write from the customer side by default, it said so when I pressed it. Just be careful.

Introducing FrontierCode 2.0: our new coding benchmark that measures a model’s ability to go beyond the spec. Most coding evals measure a model’s ability to write code that meets a spec. With FrontierCode 1.0, we asked a new question: would you actually merge the PR? FrontierCode 2.0 is comprised of more diverse tasks, featuring larger scopes and higher mergeability standards. We are now asking: not only would you merge this PR, but should you? One key feature of FrontierCode 2.0 is underspecified prompts. Rather than including every engineering decision, prompts are deliberately ambiguous, giving the models room to demonstrate their judgment. The result is a benchmark that is far from saturated, with the top model scoring just 45%.

‼️ EU governments approved a GDPR change to let companies train AI on Europeans' personal data without consent. It makes AI training a possible "legitimate interest", judged case by case. Parliament must still agree. Max Schrems calls it a "digital expropriation" of Europeans.

The Agent SDK is now available. Define agents as code, with prompts in Markdown and tools in TypeScript. Deploy them on our hosted infrastructure, or run them on your own. Built-in evals let you measure every change and make your agents better over time.

new AI software factory experiment, modeled after a human eng team: - multiple pi-durable agents - each w/ their own desktop linux VM (8gb ram) - each has a role/persona, works towards common goal - private IRC server for collab - eng rituals: daily standups, "review my pr", etc

$MSFT offers 60,000 employees a voluntary exit. 60K Y’all!! First time this has ever been offered at Microsoft and it will affect employees in India, The United States, Canada, and the UK at level 70 or below… Employees find out in a few hours if they are being targeted for this. This just makes me think that H127 layoffs sound intense. Is this a pre-layoff round? Also makes me wonder if they changed some scheduled layoffs due to be called out by @VP. Peace offering? 🤔 Timing is just interesting. More to come.
$MSFT Microsoft's job cuts aren't done, and Xbox is where to watch next. Asha Sharma is reportedly planning three more rounds: this month, November and January. 1,868 jobs are gone against a 3,200 target, so roughly 1,300 more are coming. Spreading cuts across a whole year is a choice. It keeps the margin story moving and leaves everyone who's left waiting. I'm watching for the October round.

Interviewed an engineer friend who works at a traditional major bank. Very interesting observations: - Junior engineers are not allowed to push code with AI. Claude Code & Codex are banned from - Senior engineers can freely use Claude Code & Codex, but only to check their and others work. - If you push AI-generated PRs, you will get a bad rep within the organization. - They still have a QA department that does all the reliability on their software. - He only uses Claude for his personal projects, which there is a lack of, because he works 9 to 7. Sincerely asking what happens to these people. If you are not using the frontier technology, it's either that the institution gets replaced, or that eventually, these people get laid off to realize suddenly that the world has moved on, and they just stopped in the pre-Claude Code era.

Everyone said "Hey Grok" was impossible on iPhone. Even Grok said Apple keeps wake words for Siri only. So I kept digging, and I found a way. Now I just say "Hey Grok" and Grok Bot voice chat opens. No extra apps, no cost, all built into iOS. How to set it up: 1. Make sure your Grok Bot app is up to date 2. Shortcuts app → + → Add Action → search "Grok Bot" → pick "Start Voice Chat with Bot" 3. Settings → Accessibility → Vocal Shortcuts → Set Up → pick that shortcut → type "Hey Grok" and say it 3 times 4. In the shortcut's details, turn on "Allow Running When Locked" If your phone is locked, iOS asks for one tap first. If Face ID already unlocked it, it's fully hands-free.
