What former Mossad chief David Barnea has revealed is a shocking admission of an intelligence operation that knowingly put 1000s of innocent Iranians at risk of imprisonment, torture, and execution, all to protect Israeli agents operating inside Iran. According to @Jerusalem_Post, Barnea acknowledged that Mossad deliberately publicized footage of its covert operations inside Iran during the June 2025 war, intending to provoke mass arrests and overwhelm Iranian security forces. “We wanted to make sure they arrested so many people in Iran that they wouldn’t be able to distinguish the wheat from the chaff,” he said. Barnea claimed that Iranian authorities arrested 21,000 people on the 2nd day of the war. He also acknowledged that many of those arrested or executed as alleged Mossad agents had nothing to do with the agency, while nearly all actual Mossad operatives escaped capture. Think about the extraordinary cruelty of that calculation. Israeli intelligence officials understood the nature of the govt they were dealing with: a repressive state with a documented record of arbitrary detention, torture, forced confessions, and executions. Yet, according to Barnea’s own account, they deliberately sought to exploit those very practices, making ordinary Iranians the expendable human cost of protecting their operatives. I think about the 1000s of families who may have been caught between an Israeli intelligence operation and an Iranian security apparatus gripped by fear of infiltration. The fathers and mothers of whose children disappeared into detention centers. The young people whose only political involvement may have been protesting for a better life. The students, workers, and ordinary citizens who could suddenly find themselves accused of collaborating with a foreign intelligence service. For them, an arrest is not a temporary inconvenience in an intelligence game. It can mean months or years in prison, torture, a coerced confession, a destroyed future, or a death sentence. Human rights organizations have documented how Iranian authorities used the war to intensify repression, including mass arrests and executions on allegations of espionage and collaboration with Israel. The Iranian government bears direct responsibility for every arbitrary arrest, every act of torture, and every unlawful execution. Nothing Israel did absolves Tehran of those crimes. But Israel cannot escape scrutiny and accountability for deliberately engineering conditions in which it knew innocent people could become targets of that repression. What Barnea describes is not simply clever intelligence work. It raises profound questions about the deliberate exploitation of foreseeable harm to civilians in pursuit of military and intelligence objectives. And perhaps the most disturbing part is the apparent indifference to what happened to those people afterward. For Mossad, the measure of success was whether its agents survived and escaped detection. For Iranian families, the consequences could last a lifetime. The lives of ordinary Iranians are not disposable assets in an intelligence operation. Their imprisonment, suffering, and deaths cannot be dismissed as the acceptable price of protecting foreign agents.. International humanitarian law does not give intelligence agencies a free pass to deliberately expose civilians to foreseeable harm. If Mossad intentionally provoked mass arrests in Iran, knowing that innocent people could face torture, imprisonment, or execution, this raises serious questions of international legal responsibility, including potential complicity in war crimes. As I said, Iranian government bears direct responsibility for its repression, but that does not absolve Israeli officials of responsibility for deliberately exploiting it. The lives of innocent civilians cannot be treated as expendable assets in an intelligence operation. This revelation deserves serious scrutiny, independent investigation. jpost.com/middle-east/iran-n…

Over one year since the ceasefire agreement, more than 1,400 people have been killed by Israeli forces in Gaza, nearly two million still need shelter, not a single hospital is fully functioning, and 1.4 million face crisis-level hunger. Accountability cannot be swept under the rubble. The recovery and future of Gaza cannot be separated from a framework grounded in international law, justice, and the rights of victims. The persistent failure to hold Israel accountable and press Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice’s binding orders continues to fuel the atrocity crimes on a mass scale against Palestinians.

🇫🇷 Former French Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin, a veteran of the traditional French right, tore into President Emmanuel Macron and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on BFMTV on Thursday for blaming France Unbowed (LFI) for last weekend's riots. Villepin served under conservative President Jacques Chirac, famously opposed the 2003 Iraq War at the UN, and now leads his own party, La France Humaniste. He said the government had confused LFI with the ultra-left militants it blames for the violence. "Do they know what the ultra-left in France is?" he asked. "The ultra-left hates France Unbowed. They are two traditions that are literally opposed." To the ultra-left, he said, LFI members are "softies." He said the ultras on the left and right number about 5,000 people in France and can be monitored. The state's failure to do so pointed to "mistakes" for which "responsibility must be established." By pointing the finger at Mélenchon's party instead, he said, Macron and Lecornu "are feeding Marine Le Pen's party," referring to the far-right National Rally. An OpinionWay poll released Thursday has Le Pen leading the first round of next year's presidential election with 36%, up a point since Saturday’s riots, and beating Mélenchon 69% to 31% in a runoff. Lecornu has accused LFI of "irresponsible" stoking of unrest by visiting school blockades. Others on the right have gone further, with conservative presidential candidate Bruno Retailleau calling for LFI to be dissolved. The government has offered no public evidence tying the party to the violence. According to Mediapart, intelligence services were pressured to overstate LFI's role, and one intelligence official called the claim that LFI was behind the movement objectively wrong.

This is a jaw-dropper. The vile and venal Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and bagman…and the 100s of millions of dollars poured into his secret bank accounts…
The GRU hacked into Jared Kushner's iPhone. Dutch military intelligence (MIVD) then recruited a GRU spy who gave them access to the hacked phone. What MIVD discovered was that Kushner had access to two bank accounts --one Azerbaijani, the other Israeli --where Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Emirati ruler Mohammed bin Zayed deposited money. It sounds like a slightly far-fetched episode of "Slow Horses," but it's real. And it proves just how eye-poppingly corrupt this administration was and continues to be as its "special envoy" decides the fate of tens of millions in Europe in the Middle East. Simply incredible reporting by Matthew Cole, drawn from his new book on Kushner. vanityfair.com/story/jared-k…

The worst case scenario for Ukraine is unfolding: it's mired in a catastrophic war against a more powerful foe, that has cost it hundreds of thousands of lives and vital territory. It wouldn't be in that war had Joe Biden and his bipartisan neocon allies, among other things, not dangled a NATO "open door" they had no intention of actually opening, and then opposed the peace deal that Ukraine negotiated with Russia in April 2022. That's because, as former Zelensky spokesperson @IuliiaMendel argues, "the western political establishment would rather see Russia burn than Ukraine saved." Someone who foresaw this disaster was your former boss Barack Obama, who resisted bipartisan neocon pressure to escalate in Ukraine. You're among the Obama admin vets to challenge Biden's support for the Gaza genocide. Continuing to stand by his pet proxy war against Russia only extends the worst case scenario for Ukraine.
Worst case scenario for Ukraine.
