To claim that any Nigerian who cannot put food on the table is merely lazy is a profound insult. It strips away human dignity and turns a blind eye to the genuine hardship faced by ordinary citizens.

Leadership isn't measured by how loudly you attack your rival, but by what you've achieved and what you'll do next. Campaign on your track record and vision. It's as simple as ABC.

The yardstick for measuring democratic elections is that, it must be free fair and credible and it's the combination of the three elements that gives legitimacy to whoever emerged as a leader.Absence of any of the elements radically affects legitimacy and followership.

Meanwhile where is @IU_Wakilii ? I thought they said the case is about stolen vehicle. Why is it beginning to look like a different matter entirely?

The Nigerian authorities must immediately and unconditionally release Imran Usman Wakili, who has been arbitrarily detained over social media posts alleging low turnout at the presidential campaign flag-off of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kaduna State. He was also targeted for his staunch support for former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai — who is also unlawfully detained for over 260 days. His detention is unlawful and shows the Nigerian government’s complete disdain for due process. Imran was arrested after security operatives tracked him to his residence in an estate in Karu on the outskirts of Abuja on 29 October. Heavily armed contingent of policemen invaded the estate Imran resides at about 4:30 p.m and asked security personnel to direct them to Mr Wakili’s apartment. Upon realizing Imran was not at home when they arrived, they arrested his younger brother, who lives with him, and the estate manager. Right now, Imran is at the risk of ill-treatment, as he had been denied access to family and lawyer in utter disregard for the rule of law. Clearly, Imran is being punished for his critical and dissenting posts on social media. Imran Wakili did not commit any crime, and his unlawful detention shows abuse of power. It is perfectly within his right to express critical opinion on any matter of public interest. Detaining Imran Wakili solely for exercising his right to freedom of expression is unacceptable and shows contempt for the rule of law. Under international human rights law, the mere fact that a social media post is considered unpalatable by those in power or any public figure is not sufficient to justify arbitrary detention by the police. The government of President Bola Tinubu must end these relentless attacks on human rights.

It’s almost a week since the police took @IU_Wakilii into custody, and this is taking much longer than we expected. We need to know what his offence is and why he is still being detained. His family and loved ones deserve answers.

Following my recent engagement with the brilliant people at @ARAA_CEDEAO in Lomé, Togo, on scaling humanitarian aid and sustainable school feeding initiatives, I conducted an on-the-spot assessment of local agricultural processors, farming cooperatives, and herder networks across the West African region. My goal is to translate these regional best practices into an innovative, community-rooted economic model for Lere Federal Constituency. We shall be pioneering the model in select schools to commence within the 2027 cycle, developing an integrated school feeding model designed to transform our local economy anchored on 4 cornerstones: • Empowering Herders & Farmers: Direct off-take agreements for locally produced grains and dairy from Lere, creating reliable revenue for our agricultural producers. • Elevating Quality & Export Standards: Strengthening local processing capacity so Lere products meet the high standards required for #ECOWAS and continental markets under the #AfCFTA . • Drivng Education & Child Nutrition: Guaranteeing nutritious meals to boost school enrolment and daily attendance across our schools. • Women's Economic Empowerment: Structuring school canteens to be managed by women-led micro-enterprises, placing financial independence directly into the hands of local women. By connecting our local production directly to our schools, we build a self-sustaining cycle that feeds our children, empowers our women, and expands the market footprint of Lere's farmers beyond our borders.

It is deeply concerning the report making rounds that @IU_Wakilii has been missing/arrested. The proliferating barbaric weaponisation of state powers to intimate & harass people for exercising their constitutionally granted & guaranteed rights should & must never become a norm.

I am concerned by reports regarding the whereabouts of Imran U. Wakili and the circumstances surrounding his reported arrest by the police. While the full details remain unclear, every citizen is entitled to personal liberty, fair treatment and the protection of the law. Law enforcement must be conducted within constitutional limits, with due process and respect for fundamental rights. I urge the relevant authorities to clarify the situation, establish Imran’s whereabouts and ensure that the circumstances surrounding this incident are properly addressed. Our democracy depends on institutions that uphold the law while protecting the rights and freedoms of every Nigerian. In a democracy, the freedom of speech and expression is sacrosanct. Any government that is intimidated by the statements of its citizens is simply highlighting its own lack of confidence and insecurities. We anxiously await answers and expect Imran to be free and well. Sadly, this shameless acts of intimidation against opposition voices continues to be only policy position of certain governments, especially the Kaduna State Government of the day. Signed Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai Member. Kaduna North Federal Constituency Chairman, Committee on Banking Regulations. October 30, 2026.

Where is Imran U. Wakili? By his own account, police officers stormed the home of @IU_Wakilii on Thursday, towed his car, seized his younger brother in his place, and ordered him to report to the station. He said he was on his way. Since then, his family has heard nothing. This is what Bola Tinubu's APC government has made of Nigeria: a country where a young man's opinions can cost him his liberty, and where the police take a brother hostage to bring a critic in. Let me be clear. If Imran is in police custody, the Nigeria Police must say so today, tell his family where he is being held, state the charge against him, and give him access to his lawyer. Holding a citizen in silence is not policing; it is intimidation, and Nigerians see it for exactly what it is. Bola may silence one voice, but he cannot silence a nation that is already hungry, angry, and watching. As President, I will restore the rule of law, protect every Nigerian's right to speak freely, and ensure that no citizen ever disappears for holding the government to account. Criticism is not a crime. Free Imran now. -AA
