America leads the world in the “brains” of physical AI. But software doesn’t build an industrial base. Machines do.
Last year, China installed about 354,000 industrial robots to America’s 38,000, a deployment gap that is also a data gap, since every robot at work generates the data that makes the next generation more capable. That was the focus of October 14th’s AI+ Robotics Summit.

Between April and August 2026, net foreign direct investment into India climbed to $13.8 billion—a four-year high, up from $9.6 billion a year earlier and $3.3 billion in 2023.
If you only read the headlines, India’s foreign investment story looks like it's turning a corner. But look closer, and the underlying picture tells a very different story.
In FY26, a record $97 billion of gross FDI entered the country. Yet $54.1 billion was taken home by foreign investors cashing out via IPOs and block deals, while Indian companies invested $36.2 billion abroad. Of every $100 that entered, only $7 stayed.
"A stake in a listed bank can be sold in a day, but a factory needs patient money for years, and even longer to earn real profits. That’s exactly the money India wants most, and it’s the hardest to get."
Much of the latest money isn't building new factories either—it's flowing into brownfield banking stakes and existing businesses. Meanwhile, the patient greenfield capital required for high-tech semiconductor fabs and battery lines remains slow to arrive.
We break down what counts as FDI vs FPI, why money drains out as fast as it enters, and what India’s investment numbers actually buy.
