Whilst yes it probably isn't the SF but at the end of the day Waid was a silver age fanatic. The likelihood of this at the very least inspiring the speed force is extremely high.

I don't think this is really the same. The Speed Force is a lot more than just Barry's aura. Its a fun thought experiment, but ascribing the Speed Force to the Silver Age is a stretch when nothing here implies the existence of a plane of energy that gives speedsters their powers.

Good for beginners, I'd say. And if you wanna get deeper read the rest of Flash vol 1 (Bates run especially great) and Williamson's Rebirth run both of which the best Barry has ever been IMO.

In all honesty this arc has transformed from a fun if not lacking arc into essentially a mini Civil War 2 in which Wally somehow can't see the flaw in his actions but I'm supposed to see a real argument here?

Whilst the speed force wasn't named until Waid. It technically speaking did orignate in the silver age. All Waid did was actually name and explore the force.

The speed force originated in a Wally west run thanks to Max Mercury. But bc of the CW everyone think the speed force first came in with Barry Allen.

I really like Barry being a scientist and I think that aspect could lead to a lot of really cool high concept adventures. More like Star Trek or Doctor Who where we follow this genius testing the limits of what's possible.

also, sorry, a character doesnt need anything new to explore to make them interesting. these characters are old and mostly fully developed ( although id argue there IS stuff with barry to do, especially since reboots ). sometimes we just want them around and continuing to do -

He explores science fiction in a way wally cannot. As his back ground with science is infinitely better. He can also tell justice stories and detective stories way better. Barry is a better character. With better dynamics. And a better flash.

Cap thing got me wondering. Has there ever been a superhero passing the mantle that was universally well received? Peter -> Ben & Miles as Spider-Man has been bumpy. Steve -> Sam as Cap too. I think Terry as Batman is the only one everyone liked. Idk why though.
