More than 2,500 GW of energy and large-load projects await grid connections worldwide. The @IEA estimates annual grid investment must rise by around 50% by 2030. Grid delays hold up power supply, industrial expansion and investment. #EnergyInvestment #Energy
Egypt’s 650 MW Red Sea Wind Energy farm became fully operational in June 2025. It generates enough electricity for over one million households, expanding domestic renewable supply and diversifying Egypt’s energy mix.

Cheaper solar panels drove a 15% rise in global installations in 2025. For Africa, solar can reduce electricity bills and diesel use where daytime generation meets demand. Savings depend on financing and the full system cost.

India has approved US$19.42bn for grids and battery storage. African energy investment can learn from this - assess how much electricity reaches customers when needed, and at what total cost. Grid capacity and reliability must inform generation plans.
#EnergyInfrastructure
Africa’s wind capacity has reached 11.1 GW, supplying electricity for homes, factories and mineral processing. A further 186 GW is planned. Long-term industrial contracts and investment in grids could help bring more projects into operation.

A major step for Kenya’s mountain bongo recovery. 🦌
On 23 September, CS @rebecca_miano launched the National Recovery & Action Plan for the Mountain Bongo (2026–2030) at MKWC, targeting a 50% population increase by 2030 and 750 by 2075.

A solar-plus-battery project at a DRC copper mine is now providing 24/7 “solar baseload” power, demonstrating the potential of integrated energy systems for mining and industry where grid capacity is constrained. Need a similar solution?

A significant step forward for one of Kenya’s rarest species. The launch of the Mountain Bongo Action Plan 2026–2030 builds on over two decades of conservation at @MKWC_KE , from breeding and rewilding to habitat restoration. Proud to support this work.
Battery storage is becoming central to Africa’s power planning. Developments in South Africa and Egypt show how integrating storage with renewable generation can strengthen grid stability and turn growing solar and wind capacity into more reliable power.

A significant oil & gas condensate discovery in Angola’s Block 0 has encountered over 90m of high-quality net pay. With established processing & transport infrastructure nearby, the discovery could move towards production with less additional development. tinyurl.com/4fhzer2u
Nigeria is targeting up to US$50bn in offshore oil and gas investment by 2030. With regulatory and fiscal reforms under way, the focus is on creating the conditions to turn investment decisions into production and bring more energy resources to market. tinyurl.com/y73nabpu
Mozambique is closer to unlocking more of its vast gas resources. Area 4 partners have awarded US$1.1bn in pre-investment contracts for Rovuma LNG Phase 1. The opportunity now is to use more of this gas to meet Mozambique’s own power needs. globalflowcontrol.com/newsro…
#Japan is targeting around 20 GW by 2040 using ultra thin flexible perovskite solar, opening possibilities for façades, lightweight roofs and structures unsuitable for conventional panels.
More solar capacity may not always require more land.

Strategically located batteries can support renewables, ease grid congestion, manage peak demand and improve the use of existing infrastructure. For Africa, where storage is installed, may matter as much as how much is installed. iea.org/reports/batteries-an…

Tanzania holds an estimated 57 Tcf of natural gas. Beyond LNG exports, gas could support another major sector: agriculture, which accounts for 26.3% of GDP. Domestic fertiliser production could reduce imports & strengthen TZ role as a regional supplier. tinyurl.com/8e5r7zbv
Uganda is moving closer to becoming an oil-producing country. As at June 2026, Tilenga was 74% complete, while EACOP had reached approximately 90%.The real test of natural resources is the value countries can build from them.🌍 tinyurl.com/3wfkaasj #OilAndGas #AfricaEnergy
