Met a true inspiration last night. @joswinson reminded me to keep fighting and keep pushing for a better world.

On @SkyNews and @LBC . Too easy to blame @Libdems messenger rather than message. Been there. Leader get all blame when things go badly and all credit when success. Our fortunes in Tory facing seats linked to Labour electability. Currently non-existent

Everyone putting the boot in to @joswinson campaign claim that she could have been PM. It was actually @vincecable who said this first when he became party leader - check his speeches. Bit of a long shot! I don't remember him getting any stick for being ambitious. Funny that 😒

Time for an unpopular opinion! Jo Swinson’s leadership was short but it burned bright with ambition, and I rather admire that in a leader of a party that normally hedges its bets: inews.co.uk/opinion/comment/…

"I don't regret trying." Lib Dem's @joswinson apologises for not being able to get her 'talented MPs' elected and admits she's 'devastated' that her strategy to #StopBrexit hasn't worked. Get live #GeneralElectionResults updates here: po.st/Tp5fm7

“One of the realities of smashing glass ceilings is that a lot of broken glass comes down on your head.” @joswinson talks about the criticism she put up with as @LibDems leader in #GE2019. #CourageCalls

Brexit will now happen. The British people have confirmed their referendum decision of 2016. The EU must now focus on building a new close, fair and lasting partnership with Britain. It is in our common interest.

Ok, so literally votes are being flown in by helicopter, so we won't have a St Ives result until the afternoon. I'm going to take a nap - please follow us and we'll be updating later. Please follow @SalBrinton and @EdwardJDavey for news from the LD leadership team!
The St Ives result won't be till this afternoon.

Our new parliamentary party will have a majority of women! Currently 7 women have been elected, vs 4 men. Still waiting on St Ives...

I mean, we say "hold", but "massive unambiguous win" might be more appropriate

One further point. @joswinson was kind to me when few other people in Westminster was kind to me. She has been buffetted by historical forces beyond any of our control and - let’s face it - a fair slice of misogyny. She may have lost our seat but she deserves our fucking respect.
Jo Swinson gave a classy speech. One element that she can be proud of on a miserable night: the Lib Dems have at least 4 new female MPs - Wendy Chamberlain, Sarah Olney Daisy Cooper in St Albans and Munira Wilson in Twickenham. Only 4 years ago, it was just 8 men.
