So, basically from this circle:
Well this is awkward: "The surname "Farage" originates from a distant Huguenot ancestor. Genealogical findings show his lineage traces back to Georgius Ferauge, born in 1681 in Fumay, France, near the modern-day Belgian border. This ancestor emigrated to Berkshire, England, in the early 1700s, and the surname gradually anglicized from Ferauge to Ferridge and finally Farage".

Apparently flooding your country with people from Third World countries does not, in fact, make you wealthier. Example # 887 397.

I think everyone can put their conscription fears on hold. This is not the behaviour of a nation preparing for war with a near-peer. Even Labour isn’t this incompetent. (Did I say even Labour isn’t this incompetent? Please don’t screenshot 🙏).

Hold on a second. Canadians have been told, for months, that a key tenet in the Prime Minister's whole trade strategy is "walk away from Washington, pivot to Europe". Now we find out his own officials told him in December 2025 that the pivot runs straight into a wall? The EU's carbon tariff hits Canadian steel, iron and aluminum, the same metals already hit by U.S. tariffs. And even though, with great fanfare, the Prime Minister is forging ahead with some kind of "associate membership" for Canada in the EU, an exemption is "not currently possible." In other words, he sat on that detail for 10 months, until an access to information request forced it out days before he hosts the Canada-EU Summit. So the plan is: turn down the August terms that were agreed then disagreed to in three days with the U.S., tell workers Europe is the answer, and quietly know Europe is putting up its own border charge. According to the @CBCNews report, that charge is close to $900M a year in exposure in Newfoundland and Labrador, $792M in Quebec, and adds up to $150 more per tonne of steel by 2034. And recall that he weakened the carbon price in his Alberta deal while knowing that, with it, he made an EU exemption even harder to get. What kind of diversification is it if you're trading one tariff wall for two and hoping nobody reads the memo?

What percentage of the jury was non-white? Just curious.
🚨Tommy Robinson has been found guilty on both counts at court today.

I wonder if Canadians who previously found Brexit mysterious have recently started to feel they can relate more to not wanting to be absorbed into a political union with a much larger Southern neighbour?

It was never a Franco-Germanic-British Empire. Virtually every major EU initiative was either opposed by Britain or actively harmed the nation, whether we are speaking of the CAP, the CFP, the euro, or QMV. EU membership was a classic example of the sunk-costs fallacy.
It was a Franco-German-British Empire before we decided to run away because our political classes couldn't understand it and were frightened of tax exile billionaire fleet st press barons who couldn't shake down 27 other countries. There you are.

Yes, official statistics from totalitarian regimes are famous for their accuracy.
Under “dictator” Mao, life expectancy in China increased by 30 years, literacy rates went from 20% to 70%, steel output grew from 1 million to 23 million tons, 47 million hectares of land was taken from landlords and given to peasants, and China was unified under a strong central state and got nuclear weapons. Despite his failures, it does not take a rocket scientist to understand why Mao is revered in China.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Mao's Great Leap Forward and related policies caused an estimated 30-45 million famine deaths in 1959-1961 alone, with total excess deaths under his rule often estimated at 40 million or higher. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Chi… pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC43… chinafile.com/library/nyrb-c…

What. A. Shock.
🚨 BREAKING: EU countries have dropped the idea of offering Canada "associate member" status in the 27-member bloc, opting instead for softer language promising "ever closer association," according to a draft statement, seen by POLITICO. Full story: vist.ly/5qd4s

So, not one this year as political observers and commentators were all saying…
Well that's it confirmed then. Across the board, political observers and commentators are all now saying that there will be an early General Election in '27. So the November summit with the EU will now be the EU outlining the rejoin terms, for Labour to include in a manifesto.

It’s pointless pretending you give a shit about violence towards women if you allow this judge to remain on the bench.
How the fuck does stabbing a young girl 10x, plus the shopkeeper not warrant a prison sentence. We live in a Country where posting a tweet gets you 31 months in prison, yet stab someone 10x gets a non custodial sentence. This Country is totally fucked. mol.im/a/16245405

This is why you don’t argue with rejoiners. They are ignorant of the entity in which they wish to re-imprison us. Also, check out the original post she’s retweeted. It says rejoining ‘would not mean an immediate switch to the euro’ meaning ultimately we would have to adopt it.
The Euro must not be used as a barrier against joining the EU. It is not an obstacles. Don't believe otherwise.

This is a super interesting post and the replies are why By wage slave metrics, this couple are elites However, by outcomes they are basically on par with an upper middle class family from the 2000s and early 2010s Welfare maxxing, open borders, Inflation and lockdown inflation plus higher interest rates have utterly destroyed the UK middle class and there is no coming back from this IMO
I read a piece in the FT this week about the price of being middle class in Britain now and it said a couple earning £436,000 combined take home £216,000. That’s a crazy amount of tax, and it doesn't include VAT on purchases, council tax, stamp duty or other taxes (I think does include pension contributions). I can’t stop thinking about it.

Brexit is and always was a class issue. The middle class are still furious at the inconvenience of it being more difficult for Ollie or Jemima to go to Uni in Italy, or go inter railing round Europe on their gap yah. (They can still do those things btw) They’re fuming that the oiks voted to make them fill in a few more forms to get their au pair a visa and they’re raging that they have a bit more trouble popping over to their holiday home in France. They were never in danger of being undercut by Eastern European builders taking their jobs and they were not concerned at large corporations bringing in hordes of cheap labour pricing out Brits on low incomes. The working class voted for Brexit and ten years on the middle class are attempting to overturn that democratic vote. Labour is now the party of the middle class which is why Burnham is trying to appeal to them by negotiating freedom of movement with the EU. He knows it would be disastrous for the working class he claims to represent but he knows who is voting for Labour now. #TellThemAgain

Which is why something akin to the Terror of the French Revolution should be imposed on the elite and lanyard class in return (although I’d settle for Oliver Cromwell).
We have had a 10 year hissy fit from the elite and lanyard class after the Brexit vote that people they consider their intellectual, social and moral inferiors vote against them. Politics since has just been continual punishment beatings.

The Economist had to use a log scale to make the Afghan rate look less horrific. Immigrants should average radically lower rape rates than natives because you are stuck with your fellow natives, but you really ought to be able to select non-rapist immigrants.
I can’t believe The Economist put this out… Rape and sexual assault by nationality: Afghanistan - 7x the British rate Middle East - 4x the British rate North Africa - 4x the British rate Sub Sahara - 3x the British rate

Almost everything Burnham says in this piece is a lie. - We didn't get a "harder" Brexit than what was mentioned in the Referendum. We left with the most comprehensive trade agreement the EU has ever signed. - The small boats crisis didn't emerge because of losing "returns agreements". While we were in the EU we were a net-, recipient of illegal immigrants from these agreements, the small boats crisis has emerged because of a global surge in illegal immigration and pull-factors like our human rights laws. - Immigration within the EU was not "revolving door". It has been permanent, and significantly more than estimated at the time. Over 6 million people have come here on the EU Settlement scheme, double estimated. The Prime Minister is dishonest and cynical, planning to hand border control to the EU, and likely pay them British taxpayers money while he's at it. – at Merton, London
Exclusive from @benclatworthy Britain is holding talks with the EU about a potential return to free movement and other options for closer alignment The Times has been told that the UK is discussing a series of options about the future relationship which are due to be unveiled within weeks Andy Burnham plans to set out his vision for closer ties with the bloc, including the potential of rejoining the union, and have a “conversation with the British public about our long-term future” The options that will be presented are being discussed with officials in Brussels to ensure both sides would ultimately be able to agree One source said all such routes would be “discussed using diplomatic channels” before any “big bang” launch of the options on the table thetimes.com/article/4ef6707…
