The staggeringly horrible business of pheasant shooting, and the mass destruction of wildlife that surrounds it, symbolises everything wrong with this country. This week's column.

4 shot swing between Hovland and Scheffler in next week’s tour championship because a different player missed a putt today.
Absolute nonsense.

One for the pro shop @the_fried_egg 🤔
Has anyone else noticed the IBM Watson score projections on the Masters app? Just bizarre. It seems to suggest that there’s a 30% chance that Scheffler shoots either below 62 or above 82 in round 1.
Delighted to have played a very small part in this - and to have a number of new courses added to the list of those that I’d like to see! Anyone just chasing the top 100 is missing out. There are so many great courses out there.
Just finished reading “When Revelation Comes” by @JimHHartsell - a wonderful book about the kind of golf I love and so much more. Can’t recommend it highly enough (whisper it, but I read it straight after rereading “To the Linksland” and I think it might be even better).
So glad that I decided on a quick 9 holes at Portmahomack GC this afternoon. The 8th was worth the £15 green fee on its own.
@AndyTFE apparently following up his Spieth take with an opinion that Merion is the worst course he’s ever seen 😳
