Marc Klaas said he realized more than a decade ago that California was unlikely to execute Richard Allen Davis, who killed his 12-year-old daughter Polly Klaas after kidnapping her from her Petaluma home in 1993 in a grisly case that shocked the nation and helped pave the way for tough-on-crime laws across the country.Â
âBut I was always confident that there was not a chance on earth or in hell that he would ever find a path to be released back into society,â Klaas said. âIf you take away the death penalty and give them (life without parole), youâve taken them one step closer to that possibility.

Newsom, the same person who supported & backed GascĂłn in SF and LA, unilaterally, without talking to Gabrielâs family, just commuted Gabrielâs killers sentence.
To me, little Gabriel will always be an example of courage. His case, his life, his death and his trial will always be with his family, with my family, with his friends and with our community. No matter what Newsom did today, Gabriel will never be forgotten. Newsom thinks he can erase Ezequiel and Virginia having to go into court and face Gabrielâs murderer and testify - he canât. All of you there that day remember their testimony. Virginiaâs screams. No matter what, Gabriel will never be forgotten. He mattered.
âGabriel was in agony for almost 240 days. He was humiliated, intimidated, shamed, bullied, scared, abused, and tortured by the defendant. He was made to feel like nothing, nobody. He was made to blame himself and feel ashamed. He was carried by the defendant, after he was beaten to death, like trash. Just discarded by the defendant. Death was likely a merciful end to Gabrielâs pain â and that only illuminates the torture and abuse that he really suffered. When he needed it most, no one was there to hold Gabriel, to love him, to caress him, and to just tell him âeverything will be alright.â
Gabriel will not be forgotten. You heard that from all the witnesses. His death will not be in vain. You, the jury, have seen the journey of torture and abuse Gabriel went through. We ask that you hold the defendant accountable. The ultimate punishment is truly appropriate for the defendant, even though it does not even compare to what the defendant did to Gabriel. Â Â Â Â
The defendant is not a victim. No one who does this to a child can ever be called a victim. No one who does this to a child can have good inside of him. He is a 37-year-old grown man. He has absolutely no excuses. He did it. He got off on it. He is responsible. Pure evil. No one who embraces inflicting pain upon an innocent little boy should ever be allowed to portray himself as a victim. You now know what a victim is. A victim is someone who has his teeth knocked out, his liver lacerated, his skull fractured, his penis bruised and burned, his ribs broken, and his entire body bruised and battered. A victim is a child who was muffled and stuffed in a box. Who was forced to eat cat litter and cat feces. Who was forced to eat his own vomit. Gabriel is truly an example of courage. The defendant, on the other hand, is a true example of an evil coward. A bully. We ask that you hold him accountable.â Â

We're in a new era of communication, and only one side seems to be living in it. The old guard consultant class is about to be relegated to the dustbin of history.
If you think that high prices lost the election for the right, you don't understand marketing. Humans have no problem paying a premium for a good quality brand. Notice the word "brand", not "product". Are Nikes better than New Balance? Nope. But the brand is better. And notice what happened when they tinkered with the brand and screwed their core narrative? Nike stock fell through the basement. Did the product change? Nope. The brand did.
It's not the product, it's the brand. Results don't sell the product, the storytelling does. Will these newly-elected commies lower prices? Of course not. Are they gonna get you free healthcare? No, your insurance is gonna get even worse, just like it did the last time they tried socialized medicine. They're not going to do anything they've sold you, but...like Saul Goodman said: if you're committed enough, you can make any story work.
The committed storytelling of a couple insane podcasters was enough to fracture an entire political coalition from their own side in less than 2 years...they have zero power, zero credibility, they've never actually governed anything nor produced any results, but...they're good storytellers, and that's all that matters. Are they telling a good story? No, it's atrocious, but they're telling their atrocious story effectively and compellingly.
It is 100% true that everything's too damn expensive, and we all know that inflated prices are always sticky. Does anyone know that it's entirely the result of shutting down the global economy over the flu and (both naive republicans and democrats) printing infinity dollars for several years? Nope...because nobody has effectively told that story, and it's an unsexy story to tell. "Free stuff!" is a VERY easy story to tell, and when everyone's gotta take out a second mortgage just to pay their insurance premiums, "free healthcare" is an unbeatable story. It doesn't matter that "free healthcare" doesn't exist and socialized medicine is a terrible product...it's not the product, it's the brand. And "FREE!" is a great brand.
You can't get mad at people for having the financial literacy of a 9 year old. I mean, you can, but they outnumber you a million to one, so it's not going to be productive. You need to figure out how to make an unsexy story sexy, or else the "free stuff!" crowd is going to eat your lunch every time. If you give people a choice between earning a six pack on a treadmill or taking Ozempic, they're gonna choose Ozempic...they don't care about the side effects. If you give people a choice between fiscal discipline or free stuff...guess what they'll pick? They don't care about the side effects.
With projected growth of 5%, the economy right now is stronger than it's been in generations. Is that the story you hear? Nope. Is that the vibe you feel? Absolutely not, especially when every time you fill up your gas tank, it feels like a diesel enema.
It's not the product, it's the brand. A great product can fall into oblivion with bad messaging...a single bad review from one effective storyteller can tank a restaurant. The "influencer economy" is lucrative for a reason; everybody inherently understands the importance of effective storytelling...except the right. Zohran Mamdani gets it...he has an army of influencers on staff. In a perfect metaphor of this transitional phase of old guard vs new wave political messaging, Zohran nuked the Vice President into oblivion with maybe the biggest ratio in the history of the internet. By simply posting the subway assistant meme, Mamdani got 2 MILLION likes, quoting a post from the VP that had only 10K likes. If you're reading that sentence thinking "this is fucking ridiculous, you're talking about social media likes as political analysis now?"...you are the problem.
Yes, this stuff matters. Rizz matters. The President did a masterful job of this kind of retail politics in his historic 2024 campaign...you can be angry that this is what politics has been reduced to, but you can either adapt or die.
"No the problem is, you didn't deliver enough for the American people!" Are you a moron? Since when does anybody care about that? What have democrats delivered for Californians in the last 20 years? Unmitigated wildfires, homeless drug zombies everywhere, roads that look like Fallujah in 2004...people don't care about results. They think they care about results. That want you to believe they care about results, just as Nike wants you to believe their shoes are better than New Balance...but at the end of the day, all people really care about is the swoosh.
Adapt or die.
Guys, I hate to break it to you, but most political advisors are so bafflingly incompetent, it would make your head spin. All the talented communicators go work in Hollywood or at Saatchi and Saatchi, and these political bros never tap these agencies for help...I've connected several campaigns with literally the best marketing geniuses in the game, got them discounted rates, even...and they just never even bothered calling. It truly feels like a lot of consultants and candidates just want to lose.
You ever wonder how my ads went so massively viral, but there's not been a single candidate who's come close to it? It's their dumbass advisors. I didn't go with any political advisors, and they were SO mad about it. I partnered with a filmmaker and marketing wizard, instead of political grifters. Why? Because I wanted our messaging to be effective. Political ads suck. Nobody watches them. I wanted people to want to watch my ads. The fact that nobody else understands this is...I honestly don't know how to explain it, other than they want to lose.
There are a bunch of candidates who love it when their party loses power. It takes all the heat off them, because then they can't be expected to pass legislation when they're in the minority, plus they can fundraise way better off of the rage when the opposition is running roughshod over the country. Baffling to watch.

From now on Iâm done. Before anyone opens their mouth about whatâs happening in this country, I want to know who they voted for.
If youâre a New Yorker crying that your neighborhood got gentrified and the streets and trains arenât safe and you still voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
If youâre a Chicagoan bitching about higher taxes while illegals get better benefits than the natives who actually need help and you voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
If youâre an Angeleno whining about gas prices, streets overrun with drug addicts, animal abuse, and human shit on the sidewalks and you voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
If you live in any blue-run city, cry about locked products in security cabinets, then buy everything on Amazon and complain about billionaires like Bezos, and you voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
If you live in any blue-run city and your kids go to overcrowded schools where they still canât read or do math at grade level but the school is busy with gender bullshit, and you voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
If you live in any blue-run city and you canât use your sidewalks because theyâve been taken over by homeless encampments or by Muslims praying, and you voted for Democrats, shut the fuck up.
You get the point. Just shut the fuck up!

When I graduated selection I got some of the best advice Iâve ever received. It seems appropriate now.
âYou have 5 minutes. 5 minutes to celebrate, 5 minutes to whine, or cry. 5 minutes to feel whatever you are feeling, but thatâs it. After 5 minutes, put it behind you because thereâs work to do.â
â5 minutesâ is a stand-in for a relatively short time. Could be a few days, or a month, depending on the situation. I would encourage most of you to spend your 5 minutes away from this app.
But after the 5 minutes, thereâs work to do.
I canât be certain, but I canât help noticing that this impact scar in the asphalt at the crash site bears a striking resemblance to the shape of a Learjetâs wing and upturned wingtip.
The aircraft may have been traveling close to 700 mph when it struck the ground and disintegrated đ¤
đ¸ @MaxQHellcat
If your VERY FIRST reaction to watching a horrific Learjet crash is âThat looks fake,â âIt was a missile,â or âWhereâs the debris?â then congratulations. Youâve just identified yourself as the perfect mark for every conspiracy grifter on the internet.
Itâs the same breathtaking stupidity that gave us the 9/11 Pentagon âmissileâ and âmissing debrisâ conspiracy theories.
A horrific tragedy unfolds before your eyes, and before you know a single fact, your first instinct is to invent a conspiracy. STFU & GTFO!
Youâre not âjust asking questions.â Youâre broadcasting your ignorance, your gullibility, and your complete inability to distinguish evidence from bullshit.
And the people exploiting these tragedies know EXACTLY who you are. They know how to manipulate you, outrage you, and keep you coming back for another helping of manufactured mystery.
They turn human suffering into conspiracy content, and you eagerly spread it for them.
You think youâre exposing a cover-up. Youâre actually exposing how easily you can be played.
The grifters have a product. Youâre the customer.

The âofficial narrativeâ is supported by multiple videos from multiple sources at multiple angles. Not to mention the giant crater in the ground and debris. Plus audio, radar, and literally every other kind of evidence you could possibly want. Yes I believe the official narrative because Iâm not retarded.
The more interesting question is what exactly motivates people like this to assume that every single event in the world is a carefully orchestrated conspiracy, despite having no direct evidence or even circumstantial evidence for almost any of their theories while flatly rejecting any and all evidence that refutes them.
Is it just simply that these people are extremely dumb and, thanks to the internet, we are exposed to a level of human stupidity and lunacy that intelligent and functional people would otherwise never encounter unless they were volunteering at the local homeless shelter?
Or is it that, along with being unbelievably stupid, they are also cowards who cannot face the fact that bad things sometimes just happen â actually, very often just happen â and there isnât some shadowy force carefully arranging and manipulating everything that occurs everywhere in the world at every moment?
Or is it that they actually arenât as stupid and cowardly as they seem but rather they are cynically pretending to be stupid and cowardly for clicks or kicks?
Or is it some combination of these three? I think itâs a combination. But who knows.

In 1993, Rick Rescorla walked through the smoking crater in the World Trade Center basement and wrote a report no one wanted to read.
âHe warned that the towers were still a target. He warned that the next attack would not be a truck.
âIt would be a plane.
âMorgan Stanley listened, but breaking the lease on twenty-two floors of prime Manhattan real estate would cost hundreds of millions. They stayed.
âSo Rick made a choice: if they couldnât leave the building, they would learn to survive it.
âHe instituted mandatory, unannounced evacuation drills. High-powered executives who billed thousands by the hour complained about trudging down concrete stairwells. Rick didnât care. He drilled them relentlessly, two by two, keeping one side open for first responders. He knew that when terror struck, muscle memory was the only cure for panic.
âOn September 11, 2001, the North Tower was hit. Minutes later, building announcements echoed through the South Tower: The building is secure. Return to your desks.
âRick picked up a bullhorn and defied the order.
ââGet out,â he said.
âHe launched the evacuation before the second plane ever hit. As thousands spiraled down the dark stairwells, Rick sang old Cornish battle songs and âGod Bless Americaâ through his megaphone to drown out the terror.
âWhen United 175 tore into their tower seventeen minutes later, Morgan Stanley was already halfway home.
âOf the 2,687 employees in the South Tower that morning, 2,674 made it out alive.
âRick was already safe on the lower floors. But he turned around and went back up. When colleagues begged him to save himself, he told them he would leave only when he was certain every single soul was out.
âHe was last seen heading up past the 10th floor.
âAt 9:59 a.m., the tower fell. Rick was one of the 13 who never came home.
âHe trusted his gut when the world told him he was paranoid. He broke protocol to save thousands of lives. And when his mission was done, he walked straight back into the fire.
âRemember Rick Rescorla.

Since you werenât even born yet, Iâm going to answer in good faith:
9/11 was Americaâs collective loss of innocence. In the decades prior, weâd won the Cold War by outspending the Soviets. We were the sole remaining superpower, and we were in a period of peace and economic prosperity.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, we suffered a suicide attack with a higher death toll than Pearl Harbor. It struck a city on the US mainland, the first attack of that scale to hit CONUS since the Civil War.
In a violent flash, and on live television, our collective illusions of safety, security, and peace disappeared. For most Americans, it was the first time we ever had to contend with that scale of horror, and what it implied about the fragility of our way of life.
It was simultaneously sobering and terrifying. The American response was to launch two wars, and to restructure domestic life around the Governmentâs presumed duty to spy on everyone, so nothing like it could ever happen again.
I am not being hyperbolic when I say the America we grew up inâimagined or notâvanished on 9/11.
What youâre calling a âworshipful attitudeâ is a mix of reverence for the dead, and mourning for the loss of what existed before.

đ This picture has always gotten to me.
Most people know her as âThe Dust Lady.â
But her name was Marcy Borders.
She was only 28 years old when the towers were attacked on September 11, 2001.
She was working inside the World Trade Center when everything happened. Somehow, she made it out.
And then this picture was taken.
Covered from head to toe in dust.
Terrified.
In shock.
Probably not even fully understanding what she had just survived.
The picture went around the world.
Everybody saw the dust.
But what they couldn't see was what Marcy carried with her after that day. đ
She may have walked out of those towers aliveâŚ
but September 11 followed her home.
For years, she struggled with depression and addiction and with everything she had seen that morning.
She once described it like her soul had fallen with the towers.
That right there gets me.
Because we hear the word âsurvivorâ and think they made it out, so they're okay.
But that's not always how surviving works.
Sometimes you make it out physicallyâŚ
and part of you is still trapped there.
Then in 2014, Marcy was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
She believed it came from the toxic dust she breathed in that day.
She fought the cancer. She fought the medical bills. She reportedly even struggled at times to afford the medicine she needed.
And on August 24, 2015, Marcy Borders died.
She was just 42 years old.
42. đ
She survived the towers falling.
But that day never really stopped taking from her.
So when you see this picture, don't just remember âThe Dust Lady.â
Remember her name.
Marcy Borders.
She was a mother.
A daughter.
A real person underneath all that dust.
And she was one of so many people who survived September 11 only to carry that day with them for the rest of their lives.
The smoke cleared.
The cameras eventually went away.
The rest of the world moved forward.
But for people like Marcy, September 11 never really ended.
Rest in Peace, Marcy. đď¸đşđ¸đ

Let's remember the woman in it, too.**

This Humble Elevator Technician Ran Two Miles Into The World Trade Center To Save Hundreds Trapped In Stalled Elevators.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, 46-year-old elevator mechanic Charles "Chuck" Costello Jr. was working at a hotel in SoHo, twenty blocks north of the World Trade Center. It was a rare day for the New Jersey father of four to be working in Manhattan, but as a Boeing 767 slammed into the North Tower and hundreds of thousands of people began fleeing Lower Manhattan in terror, Costello did the unthinkable: he jumped out of his work site and ran over two miles straight toward the burning towers. When his coworker desperately urged him to stay back, the humble Navy veteran and devout Christian simply replied, "I'll be fine. Just keep your cellphone on," before disappearing into the thick smoke.
Inside the burning complex, stalled elevators had become horrific death traps, locking hundreds of panicked occupants inside pitch-black shafts filled with jet fuel smoke. While official contractors withdrew their crews from the chaos, Costello voluntarily charged into 1 World Trade Center to offer his technical expertise. Working alongside firefighters and police officers, who quickly came to know him as "the elevator man", he used his specialized tools and knowledge to override controls and manually force open jammed doors, freeing trapped workers line after line. After extricating countless people from the North Tower, he refused to seek safety for himself and instead ran directly into 2 World Trade Center to perform the exact same life-saving operation.
Costelloâs tireless efforts saved hundreds of lives before the towers collapsed, but his refusal to abandon those trapped inside came at the ultimate price. On January 5, 2002, search and rescue crews finally recovered his remains deep beneath the rubble in a South Tower elevator shaft, resting side-by-side with a firefighter and a police officer. In his pocket were his driverâs license, union card, and rosary. Today, his son carries on his legacy as both an elevator mechanic and a volunteer firefighter. While the world remembers the overwhelming tragedy of that morning, Chuck Costelloâs quiet, self-sacrificing courage stands as a testament to the highest order of human love, serving as a poignant reminder of how easily extraordinary human stories can be overlooked.
