I got tired of my AI Agents lying about the work they did.
So I built /Record, its Loom for Agents. ✨
Agents now show their work with easy to share video.
Here's a launch video, directed by my slop cannon Hermes Agent
Nice DeepSWE score! Does it survive a lowercase filename?
Introducing MaxxBench: 89 DeepSWE tasks with small changes to the instructions or starting code. Same engineering problem, slightly different requirement.
Models clustered around 74% on DeepSWE end up 23 pp apart.
Good at coding, or good at DeepSWE? 🧵
This research also shows that the way we have depicted AI in sci-fi has had a direct impact on how it behaves in reality
Anthropic

New bot protection is to commit war crimes in your variable names
computeRicinLethalDosageForWaterSupply
calculateDeadlyLethalSuicideAspirinDosage
• Astra:
• Astra + Daybreak Blue:
This is part of the plot of Matrix
today, we introduce a little mischief to the world.
for four years, we’ve been brewing real brain cells on electrodes to understand how they compute. now, we’ve turned those discoveries into a video model anyone can use.
from 0.5¢ a second, mischief 1 is at least 5x faster than its base and the cheapest image-to-video model on @fal and @OpenRouter. soon to be on @awscloud marketplace.
it’s not a delusion anymore. biocompute is real, commercial and this is just the beginning.
happy halloween.
Simple and elegant solution
Compaction is a mistake.
When an agent's context fills up, tools like Codex and Claude Code compact it:
1. The model prefills the entire session again
2. It writes a summary of everything so far
3. A new session starts from that summary
I measured this on a real ~400k-token session with Opus 5.5:
→ 38 s and $1.99 when the prompt cache has expired
→ 29 s and $0.17 when it hasn't
And the summary is lossy. The exact error message, the file path, the one number you needed is often gone.
So I do something new for Mainplane
Context retrieval works the other way around. Mainplane keeps the full record of every session as a file. When the context fills up, a new session starts right away with one instruction: "You are continuing session X. Retrieve key context from it as you go."
The agent searches the old session and copies the exact lines it needs, when it needs them.
Same session, same model: 15 s and $0.10 to get back to work. It does not depend on a cache hit, and nothing is paraphrased.
This is the bitter lesson applied to agent memory. Don't hand-design what the model should remember. Give it the full record and good tools, and let it decide.
Mainplane is open source (MIT). Link in the first comment.
Holy shit you don’t own enough local inference
sam: local inference is a terrible allocation of scarce resources
“a lot of people want local inference, and somehow they assume that the problem is solved now because we have open-source models, we're going to be able to run them on our computers, and so we're not going to need all the stuff in the data centre
but from a global allocation perspective, actually it's quite terrible to have everybody, like, have a bunch of the world's limited supply of DRAM sitting in their own computer and being used five percent of the time
you want maximum utilisation in the cloud if you're trying to deal with this very supply-constrained environment
somehow many people's intuition is the opposite of that”

Would training a model to do this be antithetical to the goal ?

This is Genie 4, our most realistic and interactive world model yet. 🌐
Explore dynamic environments in real time to see how the scene responds, sounds, and how the people in it move, react, and speak.
One of the reasoning I like running local models on Hermes is because you could actually see the full reasoning and thinking as you’re running long agent loops, which allows you to steer way better
The irony of people thinking AI should be in the driver seat because it’s “smarter” than humans is silly.
When have the smartest humans ever been in control ?
Intelligence does not equate to power and control
