Ah, sweet #persofails. In your way, you've never failed...
To be instructive. ✅ Or funny. ✅ Or therapeutic. ✅
All 3, really. You pack an edutaining punch. 🏅
🧵 The art + science of failure in connected experiences, explained by a practicing personalization consultant.
So much of where personalized experiences are taking us culturally looks net-positive, dynamic, and pluralistic, though center-stage bear takes and moral panic de-oxygenate the common conversation.

Replying to @mattwridley
@mattwridley I've really enjoyed discovering your work in the past year and greatly admire the scope and execution of the books I've read, if not always in firm agreement with all your conclusions. How boring would that make a reader's negotiation with a gifted writer, after all.

In ancient Mesopotamia, around 1750 BC, an interesting incident occurred involving the first documented complaint, albeit in the form of a clay tablet. The complaint was composed by a man named Nanni and addressed to a merchant named Ea-nasir. Nanni expressed his frustration regarding the merchant's delivery of the incorrect grade of copper, despite having already made the payment. Additionally, Nanni highlighted his displeasure with Ea-nasir's disrespectful behavior towards Nanni's servant during their confrontation.
Curiously, this was not an isolated incident involving Ea-nasir. Archaeologists discovered over a dozen similar "letters" within Ea-nasir's residence. It became evident that Ea-nasir had gained a reputation for failing to deliver products that had been paid for or for mistakenly sending them to the wrong recipients. Moreover, whenever his business ventures faced challenges, he would promptly initiate a new enterprise.
These clay tablets, serving as historical evidence, shed light on early consumer complaints and the unethical practices of certain merchants during that era. The discovery of multiple complaint tablets offers a glimpse into the frustrations and grievances faced by customers, emphasizing the importance of fair trade and ethical business practices, even in ancient times.

"What we eventually run up against are the forces of humourlessness, and let me assure you that the humourless as a bunch don't just not know what's funny, they don't know what's serious. They have no common sense, either, and shouldn't be trusted with anything."

Barely rewritten media release, but of course this effort has my sympathies. Vast overstatement of impact although who wouldn’t want an industry metadata arms race?
Forget the metaverse. The future is metadata.

Inosculation is a natural phenomenon in which parts of two different trees, commonly but not exclusively the same species, grow together, self grafting and sharing nutrients
The term emanates from latin- ōsculārī, to kiss
The thinner tree was cut years ago and the big one has been holding and feeding it since then. They "wake up" together in the spring and "go to sleep" together in the autumn.

This bonsai tree was planted in 1625, and has lived through a lot of history in its 400 years of life
It survived Hiroshima, even though it was only two miles away at the time.
