I wrote this about @Keir_Starmer on 7 July 2024, days after he won a phenomenal landslide. I remember the joy and light that flooded Twitter. Finally! A PM we could be proud of. A lot of us haven't forgotten that monumental achievement. #starmermuststay jennifer-stewart.com/2024/07…

Brilliant statesman @MarkJCarney is pulling together the middle powers so they can withstand Trump & Putin & defend Ukraine etc. @andyburnham & @JohnHealey_MP have snubbed him. They've got a better plan. Which isolates the UK. Un. Fucking. Believable. ft.com/content/1f7924c1-ab63…
NEW: Britain is walking away from joining the Canada-led international Defence, Security & Resilience Bank @FT first revealed last month that the UK was exploring the proposal, including an option to merge the DSRB with the Multilateral Defence Mechanism (MDM), a separate UK-spearheaded international defence initiative. Talks broke down over merger, including disagreement about locations of proposed headquarters, acc to officials briefed on the matter. Via @GeorgeWParker & me ft.com/content/1f7924c1-ab63…

2020, when @Keir_Starmer was running for Labour leadership. I'd never canvassed for anyone before, or done cold calls and I had a phobia about the phone, but I was inspired by him so I took the plunge. The first call I made, I burst into tears at the end and slumped onto the floor, "I can't do this". I felt so insignificant and useless. But I picked myself up and tried another one. And another. And, it became rewarding, talking to so many people, most of whom were enthusiastic about Keir. Eventually my name featured on the leaderboard at the bottom and then I got competitive.😀 I ended up at the top when they closed the campaigning down. Hah!💃 Being a part of Keir's campaign, helping him win in a tiny way, being a Labour member (as it was then), all made me feel like I belonged and had some value. I'm so grateful to Keir. 🙏

I used to live in Trehafod, and often drove to the Brecon Beacons to walk up Pen y Fan. These were en route.

I tell you what I'd enjoy. Since @Keir_Starmer has said he's done with politics, imagine if @RachelReeves ever challenged @andyburnham and won. She'd be the first woman Chancellor and the first female Labour PM.

Brutal indeed. @BarackObama mocks Hegseth and is pretty entertaining with it - then ends with a very authoritative "These are not serious people". Amen to that.
Barack Obama decided to hit Pete Hegseth with the elbow from the top rope. Absolutely brutal takedown.

Yes, the Tories did vandalise the economy. Then @Keir_Starmer and @RachelReevesMP repaired the damage considerably - miraculously, some would say - in 2 short years. Then @andyburnham et al vandalised Number 10. @AngelaRayner and @UKLabour know it. So do we.
The Tories committed an act of vandalism to Britain's economy. Labour's job is to fix it. That means spreading money and power out of Westminster, into every postcode of this country.

Polling expert Lord Hayward: @andyburnham “will have to show he can govern effectively”. What?? Such a hard-working, accomplished, competent, honest bloke, our Andy. The whole country should be on its knees thanking him. Oh wait. That was @Keir_Starmer. independent.co.uk/news/uk/po…

Perfect! And, what a great metaphor. 👏 @andyburnham muscled @Keir_Starmer out of Number 10 but Starmer did a fantastic job & retained his dignity. He's admired by international leaders, impressed by his integrity, statesmanship & intellectual heft. He's got everything going for him. Burnham is already struggling, and will always be the guy who betrayed GM voters & couldn't win Labour leadership or the premiership fairly so resorted to skullduggery.
The real Prime Minister versus the quasi Prime Minister today 😂

The defence of our nation is top priority. We have Wes Traitor Streeting in charge. I’m filled with confidence, not. Our PM spending time boosting his celebrity status. No wonder I’m worried. No confidence in anyone at the moment. You want me to take it serious???? Do your jobs.

So many said @JoeBiden was senile in 2024. He wasn't then and he still isn't now. He's an American icon. I expect his book will be a great read. 💙
My dad used to say, “Joey, when you get knocked down, get up.” I’ve leaned on those words my whole life, in politics and with my family, through the best days and the hardest ones. I write about that and more in my new book, PROMISE ME, AMERICA. It’s out November 17th, and you can preorder it now at PromiseMeAmerica.com. I’m looking forward to folks reading it.
