This BCTF statement does not speak for many of the teachers it claims to represent. No one’s rights are being taken away. Lesbian, gay, and bisexual people exist across the political spectrum. Same-sex attracted teachers and parents hold a wide range of views, and many reject the promotion of gender-identity ideology in schools. We hear from lesbian, gay, and bisexual teachers in British Columbia who oppose gender-identity ideology and the overtly sexual materials made available to young children. They resent participating in language demands that may affirm children in delusions. Their gravest concern is that this ideology is contributing to a medical scandal in which distressed youth are being steered toward puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries. These teachers overwhelmingly feel unsupported by their union. Many are afraid to speak out at all, concerned they will be bullied, isolated, or professionally punished for stating biological facts or questioning the medicalization of minors. The union’s framing treats disagreement with contested gender ideology as an existential threat. It erases the same-sex attracted educators who want sex-based protections, resources based in biological reality and age-appropriate education. Protecting children from experimental interventions and sexualized materials is not discrimination. It is safeguarding. The BCTF leadership is free to hold its views. It does not get to claim those views represent every teacher—or every lesbian, gay, or bisexual person in British Columbia. Many LGB teachers remain silent precisely because they know their union will not support them when they dissent.
The BC teachers union president issued this statement today 🥴 "I recognize that with the outcome of a Conservative government, many of us may be feeling disappointed, scared, or deeply concerned about what might come next. I know these results may be particularly concerning for Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQIA+ members. You are not alone."

Productive conversation with Prime Minister Mark Carney today. We are aligned on the need to supercharge our economy, attract investment, and create good-paying jobs. British Columbia has an enormous role to play in driving Canada's economic future, and we are ready to lead. When British Columbia succeeds, Canada succeeds. READOUT: PREMIER-ELECT LORNE DOERKSON'S CALL WITH PRIME MINISTER MARK CARNEY October 27, 2026 Earlier today, the Prime Minister of Canada and the Premier designate of British Columbia had a virtual meeting setting out a plan for cooperation in support of BC and Canadian growth. In the conversation, there was agreement to work together to increase growth and economic opportunities for BC and Canada. On LNG and natural gas, there was a joint desire to ensure the right investable and competitive conditions are created to maximize private sector investment. On investment strategy, there was alignment to work together to attract capital to BC. Overall, the Prime Minister and Premier Designate indicated their joint desire for a strong partnership inclusive of all British Columbians that can supercharge hope and opportunities for the province. The Premier Designate offered his commitment to work together on various challenges including managing trade risks and opportunities to ensure prosperity for the country from coast, to coast to coast. There was also alignment on the need for progressing improved infrastructure and services in BC and to work these issues further through the transition and establishment of BC’s new government.

Saskatchewan to BC should have the wealthiest, highest quality of living of any place in the world. The west of Canada has everything it needs to be incredibly prosperous. It’s beautiful, full of resources and finally has adults running all 3 provinces.

Virtually all of the slopulist right "influencers" in Canada were on Team One BC, which won 1% of the vote. They set their hair on fire when the BC Conservatives decided to stabilize themselves as a mainstream centre-right party at the beginning of the campaign. As with the Alberta referendum, this is yet more evidence that these so-called influencers have no influence, and should be broadly ignored by sensible, principled Canadian conservatives.
A lot of the recent drama on the right in BC came from a crazy right populist splinter party, @One_BCHQ. Made up of self styled “real conservatives” with the usual assortment of weird obsessions & conspiracy theories: vaccines, ostrich farms, chem trails, xenophobia, MAGA North, all communicated with the volume nob stuck on 10. Basically the BC counterpart of hard core Alberta separatist activists, or Bernier’s @peoplespca. Tonight they’re at 1.4% of the vote, after two years of being a hugely divisive distraction on the right of BC politics. Yet another reminder to Conservative parties: ignore the crazy fringe of the hard populist right. Don’t let the tail wag the dog. Let them stay in their little fringe parties. Being a principled conservative party does not mean pandering to incoherent, perennially angry populism. Instead, propose bold, thoughtful policy reforms rooted in conservative principles that appeal to the broad mainstream. Just like the @Conservative_BC did in this winning campaign.

There’s been reporting from the NY Times about the extent of the business agreements that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff have been negotiating with Russian officials. Most of it will personally enrich the Trump family, but the deals can’t commence until the war is over. So Elon had an idea.
1/ The Musk-Trump decision to degrade Ukraine's Starlink access as a pressure tactic is a disaster not just for the United States' reputation but for the entire US defence industry. Musk's action may end up burning the whole industry. ⬇️

Ben Affleck, voice of reason on AI. Not on my bingo card.
Ben Affleck says AI is simply matrix multiplication, linear algebra and floating point calculations, and however convincingly it sounds like a person, it has nothing to do with thought, humanity or feeling “Nor do I believe, and I think it’s important to draw the distinction between what AI does, which is simply predict the next token or the next word in a sentence, then add that word on, run it back to the machine, do a lot of computation and pick the next word." "That is a very different thing than sentience or thought. And I think we need to be really clear about that because it can be convincingly, in an illusory way, sound like thought or like a person." "But let’s be real clear. This is matrix multiplication. This is linear algebra. These are floating point calculations. It has nothing to do with thought, humanity, or feeling.”

I’ve seen many takes like this, and I was as happy as the next guy, but as the data from high quality sources actually emerges, it looks like half the Twittersphere got punkt on this one.
By taking out the Yandex data centre in russia - Zelenskyy effectively removed 85% of Albertan separatist and Maga voters from the playing field. A major victory for democracy.

How is it that online support for Alberta independence has fallen to near zero with the bombing of data centres in Russia? Must be a mere coincidence.

I'm sorry but I have to vent. Fuck the GOP for watering down the Lindsay Graham sanctions bill and giving Trump full power over it. Fuck anyone who said Kamala would be worse for Ukraine than Trump. Fuck all the Americans who are okay about the fact that US is now funding Russia's genocidal war in Ukraine - because that's what you're doing now. And fuck people who still support Trump after all the shit he's done for Ukraine. So tiring.

I don’t talk about addiction as an abstract policy issue. I lived it. At 17, I was struggling with addiction and living on the streets of Vancouver. I know what it feels like to be cold, hungry and exhausted, and still have drugs matter more than anything else. I also know there were times when I was simply not capable of making decisions in my own best interest. But I also know what recovery can make possible. Someone believed I was capable of more. I found purpose, went to treatment and began rebuilding my life. Today, that life is almost unrecognizable. That’s why I will never accept that leaving people trapped in addiction is compassion. Every person we see suffering on our streets has a story that isn’t finished yet. Sometimes compassion means intervention. It means treatment, recovery, responsibility, connection and purpose. Keeping someone alive matters. But keeping someone alive is not enough. We need to give people a way out. I found mine. I want every British Columbian struggling with addiction to have the opportunity to find theirs. I’ll have a lot more to say on this in the coming weeks.
BC Conservative candidate Claire Rattée shares her personal experience with addiction, homelessness, and recovery while outlining the party’s approach to treatment and public safety: “Every person we see suffering on our streets has a story that isn’t finished yet, and we cannot give up on them.” #bcpoli #bcelxn26

David Eby soon to be featured in BC Conservative campaign ads 😂
Here’s David Eby TODAY: "Right now in the province, people can wait 10 weeks for surgeries, but they can also wait 50 weeks or more for some surgeries, and that is totally unacceptable.” B.C. NDP campaign event, Oct. 6, 2026. Who’s been running the province the last FOUR YEARS?

The scale of what Canada is building is hard to overstate: --Churchill Falls = roughly 9 nuclear reactors worth of clean power. --Pacific Link = an oil export route approaching the consumption of the entire UK. --LNG Canada Phase 2 = enough gas to equal roughly half of Canada’s domestic consumption.
Churchill Falls: The largest clean energy investment in North American history. Pacific Link: A pipeline to the West Coast that will unlock new markets. LNG Canada Phase 2: The second-largest LNG facility of its kind in the world. Canada is working. We’re unleashing our full potential as a global energy superpower — and we’re just getting started.

David is letting everyone know that he’s economically illiterate. 1. The USD is surging against multiple currencies, which are all ‘collapsing’ (down slightly) in USD terms. 2. We’re an export economy, a low dollar benefits us. 3. He wouldn’t be surprised if it goes to arbitrary number because reasons.
Canadian dollar is absolutely collapsing right now. Wouldn't be surprised if we go below .65 USD in the near future.

The BC Conservative Party needs to publish a platform. Obviously there are still differences on the social issues. Work it out. Time is of the essence. #bcpoli
